psilocybin for PTSD from rape

I was recently raped from a very close friend of mine, the experience has left me shattered and traumatized. I was wondering if low OR high doses of psilocybin would help me deal with this trauama to where I could live a partially normal life.

Maybe doing a low dose with a partner could make you less nervous around them

Have you tried counseling? There are therapists who are trained to work specifically with PTSD.

Whos to say. It could work amazingly well, it could be horrific and cause further trauma. No one really knows except first hand accounts thanks to the federal government. MDMA was pretty therapeutic for me in the right setting, but these days who knows what the fuck you are getting

^ That. A bad trip probably won't help much. Let your mind work through the trauma a bit before you try to use mushrooms. That study on military PSTD and shrooms was done on more long term PTSD people I think. If you do decide to try the shrooms, start with a low dose first for sure. It'll give you a chance to get comfortable with the effects of the drug and figure out how you want to use it. A high dose trip is a lot harder to pull off well, and it requires some more experience. You don't want to be stuck in a really intense bad trip when you're already feeling traumatized.
It's also not a bad idea to talk to a counselor or a trusted friend about this stuff. You should also do some reading on how people get over these experiences. You're probably getting stuck with not trusting people or you have intense misconceptions about their behavior. You should work on consciously pushing those boundaries before trying shrooms. If you're struggling with that on it's own, then maybe try tripping with somebody who you really deeply trust that's also had some experience with psychedelics.
I'm not sure if you've ever done shrooms (or the like) before, but if not, you should read some trip reports. For me, if I prepare well beforehand, I usually get a sense of wonder and exploration that's kind of childlike. It's also accompanied by hallucinations and new ideas, which make it more wondrous and interesting. You might benefit from that kind of experience if you can pull it off. Intense bad emotions can drag your mind towards scary hallucinations and ideas too, so you've got to be able to stay focused on the good stuff (or learn something good while in the bad or whatever), and being prepared beforehand helps with that because you don't have to get worried or interrupt your trip for unexpected bullshit. You want to be comfortable and unbothered during a trip.

I was molested as a kid and mushrooms helped me work past that and forgive myself. My first dose was large and I had an 'okay' trip, but it changed my life.

This what I mean, it could be a silver bullet, however it may very well fuck your head up worse. There is no way to tell for sure. I think MDMA would be a far more likely substance to help with healing in a proper environment, BUT its illegal and who knows what the hell it is your buying.
Lifes a gamble I suppose, but be aware what it is your gambling. Your freedom, your money (fines) or quite possibly your sanity. There are ways to lower the "risk" so to speak but I personally wouldnt do it unless my current mental state was "that bad" to the point where my next option was honestly contemplating suicide. Your first line of defense however is clean living. Not doing shit to harm yourself, eating right, quiet introspection, etc. etc. You would be amazed at the brains capability to heal itself if you let it. I have been through some fucking traumatic shit, physically and mentally. I promise you the best thing one can do after something horrific....is nothing. Sounds stupid, but by letting it "bleed out" so to speak (crying when you need to, tearing your room apart when you need to in moments of rage, staying in bed all day) and simply doing your best to live clean while letting your brain and soul process what the fuck just happened.

That's good advice, all of it. I just wanted to throw my experience in the mix.
I'd recommend art. There's something that speaks to everyone. When you create your feelings you can see yourself.

I'm so sorry op. It's not your fault and you didn't deserve it.
I was molested during childhood, raped once and otherwise assaulted many times in my teenage years and adult life. I would recommend counseling first. It really helps to talk to someone about the unspeakable feelings and thoughts that come up after such a trauma. I am not sure I would suggest the use of psychedelics right after a rape; it would be a real crapshoot as to whether you would have a decent trip or a really horrific one, and I would hate to hear that you had a horrific psychedelic experience that caused you any more trauma in any way when you are already in such a vulnerable state.
Please find someone to talk to sooner rather than later. Do you have a good support system now? Can you talk to your friends or family about touchy subjects or uncomfortable thoughts or feelings you are having? Do you have trusted friends who are experienced with psychedelics? If the answer to any of these questions is no, I would personally advise you to wait on the use of psychedelics until you have a strong, healthy support system. Don't go through this alone.
My abuse (or most of it) happened a decade ago, two if we were talking about the child abuse. I can say that coupled with counseling and my support system, psychedelics have been and continue to be a useful tool in helping me to heal, but I am also careful. If I don't feel 100% ready to trip, I abstain. It is hard enough getting stuck in a negative thought loop recalling my traumas when I am sober so I do not care to be in that space tripping all night.
I am rambling now. Not sure if this was helpful.

Let me state that I am certainly not a therapist and probably not qualified to give this type of advice, however with that being said, quite simply if you believe the mushrooms will help you they will.

You are trying to treat PTSD, so MDMA is the correct drug to use.
The key to the therapy is to talk about the incident to the therapist after you have taken the drug.

This. These types of research studies involve a huge amount of basic psychotherapy. Just getting high won't cut it.

Agreeing with most of the posts above me I wouldn't jump right into Psilocybin. I view mushrooms more as a 'final nail' type solution. There will be a lot of issues you'll have to work through mentally and nothing will be more helpful then communication. It's more embarrassing but trust me it's more effective. THC would be very useful during that process and I can't advocate for anything harder like MDMA but you'll know you better then we do. Once you think you're nearing acceptance and will be able to move past this awful point in your life then I'd recommend mushrooms. Mushrooms get you so into your own head, you want to be coming from a place of inner strength when you indulge. IMO.

Psilocybin + Therapy is the way to go. 3 or more grams should be enough.

That isn't very good advice. MDMA is the correct treatment for PTSD. Psilocybin is far too unpredictable and does not give the warm, safe empathetic feelings needed for this kind of work.

Definitely get some counseling.. taking drugs alone probably won't help at this stage and may make things worse.
If you are inclined to use psychoactives in your healing process, I'd say microdosing mushrooms alongside conventional psychotherapy probably would be the best way.
I'm starting therapy very soon for PTSD and this is the way I'm going about it.
