These pop up on my property in the same place year after year. In a mulched area behind my house.
Pics:

Also got these little guys popping up in a hpoo and sawdust compost pile on the other side of my house.

Are these all Coprinellus micaceus?

I concur. That's a large fruiting too!

Close enough, certainly Coprinellus sect. Micacei, however there is lacking literature to confirm C. micaceus and not another taxa. The short European key often doesn't work very well in North America.

Just about after every rain I get some big clusters popping up like the ones in the pic. I should probably clone one off the next big cluster, just to add to my culture bank.

I chop them up and add to BBQ sauce then add that to steak or pork chops. I get a few clusters here and there but mostly singles. Mine grow off a tree stump that I burned all the way underground.

That sounds pretty good, I think I might have to try that.
As a note to anyone that would eat them, for your own sake please do not collect them for the table from places with possible environmental contaminants that the mycelium may absorb and release in the fruiting bodies.

Yeah I was thinking about that after reading the wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coprinellus_micaceus
Pretty sure the ones on my property should be safe. I may have to give these a try. Any other non egg recipes for these? Eggs don't agree with me much anymore.
Anyone want a clone from the next big cluster I have pop up?
