I wonder if that means it will be banned. Not gonna worry about it for now though.
If the FDA doesn't let it go through customs I can just order from Indonesia. I think we will be fine tho.

Time to order some Mitragyna trees.
As for the skin darkening; I've been using it off and on for about 3 years now. Probably almost 2 years of consecutive use. When I was getting off Opiates I was taking 7+ grams a day.
FDA found no history of Kratom use establishing it's safety to consume? I guess they limit their research to what has occurred in America....

It falls under some dietary thing I don't think they can do anything about it if the vendors say not for human consumption.
I don't know the details but ya I hope we are fine.

By 2017 I'm almost certain it will be illegal unfortunately.
It's already illegal in 2 state I believe. Tennessee and one other I can't remember right now.
Even here in Florida there's already been bans. The Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough Couny) how banned the sale of Kratom. Not really sure on possession law, but it's illegal to distribute.
In West Palm Beach County just north of me there was a guy with really severe psychological problems that killed himself by jumping off of a highway ramp into traffic a few months ago. His mother when questioned by the police said that he had recently started taking Kratom.
Now we all know that his underlying mental conditions were the cause for his suicide but she brought attention to Kratom being the cause of it. Legislation has been in the works there since. It might have already gone into effect.
Misinformation just as with Cannabis is going to ruin this wonderful plant for us eventually.

WTF, FDA?? Those "side effects" are exactly why I want it! lol
Anywho, I just ordered a sample pack. the pack looks like enough to last me a very pleasant little while. The last time I "experienced" it, I was deep in to a fake-weed binge and it produced no noticeable affects whatsoever. I noticed that fake doesn't get alone with almost any drug on the market, so I'm really excited to be trying something new. Wish me love

I ordered 3 seedlings off of ebay over a year ago before doing any research on how to properly grow them. Turns out they are incredibly stubborn to grow, and I wish you the best of luck. If you do eventually try to grow please keep me informed as I'm very interested in doing so.
The articles I remember reading regarding changing your skin tone were from research done on people in SE Asia that constantly chew on the raw leaves all day long. I don't know if that makes any difference compared to consuming it in its powdered form though.

I try not to think about it being banned.
Honestly I have concluded after doing months on and off it I am better on it. I need it because since I quit drugs I have had mild depression and when I have it I am happy and enjoy life. I never abuse it. It is my medication.
If it were to be banned I would drop at least ten grand and get a massive order and store it for years to come. Straight the fuck up if it has to come to that I will do it.

Y'all, Things get banned and we're on to the next one. Worry, not. Y'all are silly. There will always be great things out there to experience.
Just keep your lives in flux and you'll have nothing to worry about

This is not some stupid ass RC drug. I could give two fucks if those are banned.
People rely on kratom as a medicine and it makes their lives better. This is a big fucking deal I made a thread about it.

Yeah I just wrote an angry email specifically about that part.
They claim it is hard on organs too, it is appalling how clearly biased they are...
Space walk, kratom and real cannabis go amazingly together, fuck "fake weed"
I had an ex who would semi have panic attacks just from smoking little bits, when I asked her about it she said it started after she tried spice...
Kr0nik, I agree with you but unlike cannabis more people are informed now and I have some hope we can talk to our law makers and people in power and share real info.
They have already stopped it from being banned in at least one place I believe.

Does FDA work with big pharma?
I hate to get into that conspiracy shit but maybe they are afraid less people will need oxycodone and stuff and they want to ban kratom.

Yea, it's a plant that has been used for thousands of years for legitimate medicinal purposes.
At least we'll be able to tell our children or grandchildren one day, "back when I was your age Kratom was legal"
lol

This is something that we can't prove but anyone with sense knows that big pharma has the FDA in their pockets.
It's unfortunate.

It does make me pissed they see kratom in the same league as bath salts though.

I had no idea about its medical uses. I feel kind of like a dick, but not so much, because now I can see another side of it. I'll def do some research into the effects and how it can be beneficial. I won't be able to try it till this weekend or early next week, but I'm not planning to use it to "get wasted." I have legit medical reasons for using it. I just thought (most naively) that I was one of the first to use it to alleviate panic attacks and anxiety.
I'm a fan of knowledgeable people self-medicating, but the FDA seems to think they're the only people who understand how chemicals affect the body. Hot Damn that's annoying.
That said, I don't try to do anything long-term. I don't know about other people, but I tend to lose myself if I enjoy relief from anything longer than a couple of years. I'm worried I'll become reliant on something and "Moderation is my Glory."
I don't feel super-comfortable weighing in on this until I experience it for myself a few times first, so I'm stepping out.

Does anyone know of some actual unbiased medical research on Kratom?

The FDA are the same people who will raid small farms and terrorize people at gunpoint because someone dared to try drinking un-pasteurized milk. Of course they are going too look at Kratom like it's meth or heroin. Fuck em'.

I'm a chemist by trade, and I believe in groups of people contributing opinions based on different tests (different people testing themselves in different ways) to cover all possible bases from many different baselines. I will not trust the FDAs tests because they generally do not have my best interests at heart and use words like "good for you" and "bad for you" without clarifying what those phrases mean.
I am not the majority. I am not the average. I do not fall into their normal categories. Their opinions do not necessarily reflect what is "good" or "bad" for me.

I don't see kratom becoming entirely illegal- I think it has had more success in staying legal than it has with being banned in the states.
I dosed again after a little hiatus- It's nice to mix with cannabis but you kind of have to be careful when dosing. I prefer the red strains to the green I think, more of a mellow calming body feel and puts the mind at ease. Makes going to class and sitting in on lectures a lot more tolerable.

You're right. It's preemptive saying that it will be illegal soon but here are my thoughts on why I think it will.
About 6 months ago I had a conversation with the owner of Kratomkats, someone that's been selling and using Kratom for about a decade. Very knowledgeable person on the subject.
The conversation eventually led to the legality aspect of it and he was extremely upset at the vendors that are selling it as something to be ingested. If you look at vendors even 2 years ago, they all sold it as incense or something along those lines.
Since then every single bottle I've seen for sale at head shops has dosing advice on the label. A lot of the online vendors are doing the same thing as well now.
This is why it's being categorized with bath salts, spice, and all the other shit that's sold in the grey area of legality. Couple that with putting a dent in the profits of big pharma and it's a problem.
