Cobweb or Mycelium - Pan Cam WBS (Pics)
    #21747725 - 06/01/15 09:06 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Just about to fruit my Pan Cam jars and came across this one with stuff growing around the top away from the grains. I'm wondering whether it's just Pan Cam mycelium which has grown on the edges of the jar from shaking it up, or whether it's cobweb mould.

Anyone with more experience in Pan's to assist?

Thanks!

Looks like myc imo. The cobweb I've eperienced is fluffy, hairy and greyish. My pan myc looks milky, almost foamy sometimes.

Out of curiosity how are you planning on fruiting your pan's mate?

I spawned to horse poo, straw, & CVG all in a 18gallon monotub.
The sub depth is about 3"
Once 100% colonization has been reached, I'll case with some jiffy mix at 1/4"

What are your plans?

Cool sounds good! At the moment I have some WBS quart sized jars and 10 pf tek size jars with horse manure and verm (same as waylitjim's tek).

I have loads of takeaway boxes like these so I'm thinking of just breaking up all the spawn cakes from the PF style jars and filling the containers and then putting a casing layer of cactus mix:verm 50:50. Not sure if I need to add the spawn to a manure substrate if it's already made up of manure...?

The quart jars on the other hand I assume I need to add to some sort of manure substrate? It's my first time doing pan's, using manure as a sub, and using casing layers so not quite sure about the next steps haha.

Your on the right trackk,
I would skip the cardboard.. & pick up some coco coir.
Even some Timothy hay would work since its basically grass.
If you have a feed store I would go check to see if they carry wheat straw...I get it for $10.a bail at my feed store

Do you have a fruiting chamber/SGFC??

I've got a SGFC and a monotub so will just put the trays in either one of those.

What do you mean 'skip the cardboard'. What cardboard haha, I'm confused. I have coco coir, are you suggesting I use that for a substrate or for a casing layer?
