First time grow, advice and tips welcome!

Hi there! Long story short, a buddy of mine has a heart filled passion for magic mushrooms, and decided to cultivate some, and along the way tutored and instructed me for my first psilocybin cubensis grow. So far I'm in the fruiting process and have started seeing mushrooms. Any advice or tips for my next time around? Anything would be much appreciated! Motivated to pick up any techniques
Species: Psilocibin Cubensis- Costa Rican Tek: bird seed Fruiting light: 10h light off 14hr light on
I occasionally mist the sub when it appears dry, hopefully will be seeing more pins later! http://
P.s. The scar in the sub was an unfortunate event that happens when I first put the sub in the terrarium to fruit. Doesn't seems to affect much.

Aside from the scar, everything looks ok. Can you upload a pic of your SGFC, so we can see how that's working? Also, how long have they been in fruiting?

Here is my set up for now. 24 watt light, with 24hr air pump pushing air through an airstone through distilled water. Just something to keep fresh air inside while I'm not at home and unavailable to fan it. I fan and mist about twice a day.

misting and fanning are only as needed, not times per day. You should only mist if the sub looks dry, and you're all good there. Fan only after spraying to disperse the water in the air. You don't need to fan all the time either if you're using a airpump/airstone. I'm using one myself right now and it eliminates the need to fan ime.
And question about your lighting: Is it a 6500 Kelvin CFL?

Thank you! Without the help of my friend (rmshrooms), I probably would be fruiting a big ol' mono tub of contaminants. sterile inoculation, and intense incubating heat control would have been the death of me for my first time if it wasn't for the tips, and research he did off of these forums. Glad to be apart of the shroomery community finally!

Alrighty, I usually only mist it on the light side to keep from drying the sub out. I'll just keep an eye out on it and apply mist when needed. As of the lighting, I bought it from my buddy. I really don't know what it is. It's an FTL listed 5.5" economy 75 watt capacity. I only have a 24 watt in it I believe.

Wattage isn't what's important with lighting...
http://www.shroomery.org/11386/Lighting-Requirements-of-Mushrooms
It'll say on the base of the bulb. My first grows were with a 2700K bulb, because that's all I had at the time. When I switched to a 6500K bulb, my bins began exploding... in the good way

Link saved! I'll be heading to my local store tomorrow to look for some CFL's. I'll also try to search for the higher kelvin listed bulbs. I have been running the halogen soft white

Usually, any "Daylight" bulb should do. Just remember to check the Kelvin number.
Btw, everything else looks great! You've taken your first steps into a much larger world You should post some pics of your harvest, I'd like to see how it turns out.

Okay, I'll check on that before choosing a bulb. Thanks again for your wisdom and kindness, and of course I'll be posting first harvest pictures, hopefully soon!

Ambient room lighting ie the sunlight that comes through your window and your room lights is more than good enough your really just giving them light because they like us have a circadian rythm if you cant give them that really any daylight bulb on a 12/12 will work light is a a secondary pinning trigger your #1 pinning trigger is evaporation off the cake and genetics genetics so as for temp if your happy they are thriving tempatures that are on the cooler side ie 65°-70° produce thicker meatier fruits while warmer temps 80°+ produce thinner hollow fruits so better to be cooler then hotter so id that said your pins look healthy so your doing pretty good did you use multispore?

Thank you, and yes I did use a multi spore. I keep my fruiting chamber in a closet that is about 70 degrees to 65 degrees.

This is my friend I was telling you about myco ninja, I guess I don't have to send his pics to you now. . I think I am going to suggest for him to buy a t-5 light fixture.
I am using an apollo 40 watt t-5 veg light for mine. Seems to do work!

hey dude! you wanna build another FC for your trays, they dont get anywhere near the fresh air they crave.
trays do well in SGFC's, or you can flip another tray upside down on it and create a dub-tub.

Of course it is like 2 ft by 8 inches, it cost $55 from amazon prime, and it works great for cloning plants! After this harvest is finished I'm buying another 80 watt 4 bulb one. Great investments!

Agree. I think I've sent posted this link about 10 times in the last 24hrs lol, but it's super helpful for monotub airflow. If you do the double tub, check this link out first for good airflow advice

I am familiar with that thread, however, I like to show the link I posted because it has drawings of how the air currents flow through the monotub with different filter-hole arrangements. The link you put up is excellent, anyone would benefit from it. But I like to show the one with the airflow diagrams so noobs can understand how the air is moving in the box. Otherwise, I totally agree with you.

Well, to each their own. It's pretty sound imo, and ime. Once I became more strategic with the hole placement, there was a definite boost in performance. I'm sure your experience has been different, and I respect that. But I personally feel like noobs would benefit from reading both links, and then connecting the dots as they need to for their individual grows.
