Does the simulation theory take away the magic and mystery of our reality?

For those not familiar with "Simulation Theory", the idea is that our reality is purely an intelligently designed computer simulation. I'm seeing more and more evidence being put forth suggesting that this could very well be true.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. I have two trains of thought - In some ways (if it did turn out to be true) I feel like it takes away some of the magic of our existence, since nothing is really "real". I find that thought kind of depressing.
Then on the other hand, if it is true, who or what created this simulation? is there other life in our simulated universe, or is space literally infinite, randomly generated by some computer algorithm as we venture deeper..
This theory also opens the door to the possibility that life is fractal, that we are a simulation within a simulation, and that we will also eventually develop the technological ability to simulate "real life".
I've been thinking about this a lot and thought it would be interesting to hear others opinions
So many questions

I thoroughly believe that life is a simulation.
This gives me full warrant to act in whatever way i see fit without consequence

A hypothesis NOT a theory.
It should have no affect on you as it is impossible to test, thus is just mental jerking off.

In the grand scheme of things, absolutely agree. Probably not advisable unless you're keen on spending the rest of your existence in a cell however

Best thing about my simulation is that it has a built in invincibility clause
