Been doing some fun stuff with PS. Cyans lately and have a question.
Would you just stick to lme for a woodlover lc? I don't have any hardwood chips to use soak water as I'm sure this will be suggested.
I have a cyan culture that is very aggressive and almost keeps up with my cubes on lme agar so I'm assuming straight lme will do fine but I'd like to have input anyways.
Also would it require less/more aeration, less agitation due to recovery times, etc?

I used simmered grain water and added a splash of molasses. Experimented with cordycep militaris, allenii and subaeruginosa and these 3 all thrived in the mixture. I also used a soaked wood chip broth and the allenii and subs thrived too. I shook the mixture daily.

Grain soak water works fantastic for woodlovers IMO.

I don't see much difference in preformance between grain water and lme in small concentrations.

LME is usually good but I have run across the occasional culture that doesn't like it too much. I haven't found anything that doesn't like grain water. Too much sugar makes the myc lazy and malt is boarderline too much sugar IMO.

I never use lme in decent concentration. I subscribe to workman's theory of 1%ish

I find that never gives me either decent growth or recovery. I know others who swear by it. I'm not going to disagree here, if something is working for you, its working.

Because it works for me does not mean there's not something better.
Pray tell share your lc recipe? All my grain water LCS always look cloudy which I'm not a fan of. I like lme for its ease of use and clarity even when pc'd too long.
Do you dilute your grain water, what ratio?

I do dilute usually by half. There will be some sediment but it is typically the first thing the myc grabs onto then the culture clears up. If it does not clear that is usually and indication of something wrong. I also sterilize mine with my grains, no worry about carmelization.
I like millet but have used pretty much everything from oats to barley. Even used Brown rice which actually did pretty good.
