fruiting problems
    #2174440 - 12/13/03 11:31 AM (13 years, 15 hours ago)

I put this post up a week ago but it's gone now. 11 BRF cakes in grow chamber for 3 weeks, 99 Rh, 3x a day or more fanning. 73F, perlite, 5-6 hours indirect light, puerto rican strain, Dunked and coldshocked at birth, little fluffy growth, and they feel kinda dry. But they where dunked for 12 hours!! we only have 3 sad littles fuckers and less than >.5g total harvest. Its not like their are flushes, just one grows and then everything stops for a while! ERRR! What is going on? I wanna case some of the cakes that are just about at their bday but how can i if i cant get the simple Pf method to work?

From my little know how, I would say the cakes were packed too tight.
Bustem up and case softly with a thin layer of wet verm.

Try the Dunk and Roll Tek

you could harvest any pins, dunk them again (dont cold shock) then case them with 60/40 or straight coir, put them back into your incubator for a few days untill the myc colonises the top casing layer, patch any agressive spots, leave another day or two for the rest of the myc to catch up then birth your casings, doing this will add about 5 days to your time frame but YOU WILL get much better results

He has allready dunked. I had cakes that where too dense and dunking did no good. They would give pins that aborted and only one or two big shrooms. So, I crumbled and cased with wet verm, top and under, then straight into the terrarium with light. Pin city 48 hrs later.

just because your cakes didn't benifit from dunking, that does not make dunking redundant for every senario, getting as much moisture into each cake as is possible can only benifit the mycelium and hence the yeilds.

please dont dismiss any single method based on a single experience.

or you can let those cakes sit another three weeks and watch things get even slower. I've found that when you have conditions rite, you know it because you can see changes by the hour. 4 degrees temp diff one way or the other can make a huge difference in myc and shroom momentum. The 70's suck for me but 84 degrees vegitive or fruiting is my sweet spot with these hot region cubes like cambodian and equadorian.

I've dunked a cake before at room temp and it didn't pin. So, I tried to bring it back to life by cold shock/dunk/roll method. It worked and i got pins. Still growing now. About a week or less till harvest, i hope.
