Great songs about the state of the world
    #21741880 - 05/30/15 05:19 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I have two I recently have fallen in love with that I think more people need to hear.

First up is Surrender It All:

Great song about "sheople" or how people have submitted themselves to society.

Second is The Third Floor

This one is a more general song.

They both hit home with me pretty hard, I love the lyrics, catchy rhythms and intense classic influenced riffs. Their guitarist is a breast.

--------------------
Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Not at all what you had in mind though.

If that's not the best shit I've heard about the state of the world I dunno what is.

Weird Al is pretty damn weird, that was a funny video though.

C'mon though keep it serious, the other two were just painful  I can't watch/ listen to that stuff...

This song isn't quite exactly about the state of the world but it is about busting out of "the norm" and living a full life, at least to me.

CRB - Jump The Turnstile

Love the album artwork too, I need to get the vinyl...

I don't listen to much if any rap anymore but Eydea and Abilities put out some great stuff and definitely have many positive and intense messages.

Blu & Exile - The World is (Below the Heavens)

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Psalm 12:6
The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Hebrews 11:3
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Revelation 3:11
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Keep it serious? That song IS about the state of the world, just because it's rap and you don't like it doesn't mean it's not about the state of the world

That was directed at that rap song and the barby song, mainly becouse they both sounded like ridiculous songs.

I can't get into rap much these days though

I was only half joking about the Barbie one. Capitolism fed by vanity fuelling negative action. It's actually pretty relevant. :smirk:

Mine wasn't joking, it's a dance party song, but the song is about ignoring all the fucked up shit in the world because "I don't wanna think about it, I just wanna get down"

Anything P.O.S. Is about the state of the world, but I won't post his other shit since you don't like rap.

Yeah I got that it was relevant just as songs they were both painful and I couldn't listen to them

I am a music snob though :crazy2:

Money is a great one too while we are on the subject of capitalism...

I would have said the same like 5 years ago but now I have listened to all their stuff a bunch of times and it is hard for me to pick favorites.

Well I have some but it would be a huge list :stoned:

Everything they made (except Fletchers Memorial Home) is a pure masterpiece.

The first time I ever got stoned someone put on money right as I toked the joint and from then on it was written in the stars

Tech N9ne is from where I live, I have seen him walking around down town when he plays here looking like he is hot shit :glittershitz:

Not a fan of him really  though I hate 98% of rap these days so its no surprise.

E & A use to be my shit though, love the creativity. I have had part of Exhausted Love stuck in my head lately:

subhumans - work rest play die

When the people of the country have forgotten how to disagree
And the national economy is said to be OK
And the wages that you get will help you to forget
Will you keep your ideologies or throw them all away?

When the system has you beaten
Even now you haven't eaten
Cos you can't afford to eat or drink to keep your brain alive
You blame the system for the weather but carry on as ever
You go to work at half past eight and come back home at five

You can go blue in the face talking about the human race
How they got to outer space but it never stopped the wars
And how the whole of this humanity is based on greed and vanity
The ones who make decisions are the ones who make the laws

But you're still in this society
So what's your main priority
Remain in the majority who never really cared?
Or cultivate the hate to annihilate the state
Are you prepared to die for your beliefs or just to dye your hair?

The anarchist, the nihilist but can you prove that you exist
To apopulation who insist you're just a bunch of fakes
You cannot change the system until you change your own restrictions
Communication and conviction - got to kick until it breaks
