I actually rescued that cactus. It was off the side of a house where they made a pile of this trash and debris. There was opuntia which I had amd several branches of these. I thought they were pretty neat.

since we are talking about Austrocylindropuntia (or how i prefer to call it Opuntia Cylindrica)
2 exemplars in the same pot, one showing monstrose traits

One big bush in the countryside, that shows strange traits, like those fruit shaped branches.

Also O.Ficus Indica is flowering here in Sicily.

And this Thephrocactus articulatus showing new growth.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a link for cutting and transplanting Opuntia
And if anyone knows an estimated time for how long it takes from flower to fruit
And a link for making Jam/Jelly with their fruit, I'ma hopefully have thousands soon.

That's not Austrocylindropuntia cylindrica, that's A. subulata (but you knew that). The fruit-shaped branches are actually a chain of imature fruits. This species (and quite a few other in the Opuntia group) frequently bloom from the imature fruits.

Maihueniopsis mandragora third generation flower-from-flower. It subsequently bloomed once more. All four generations on the same growing season.

Sorry big L , i was never aware about the fact that this was subulata and not austrocylindropuntia. I actually thought that subulata was a weak opuntia one, as one exemplar of mine died from chochineal disease. Got still many doubts, as cylindrica and subulata have many traits in common

Check the leaves, people. It's all in the leaves.
A. subulata has those big, fleshy straight leaves, that can be as big as pinkies. It also grows tall, bushy and very, very spiny. Its flowers are red.
A. cylindrica has minute leaves, like the ones on regular Opuntia pads, that soon drop off. It's tallish, thin and less bushy and its stems topple over under their own weight. I've never seen it flower.
A. imbricata has small segments and its leaves are thin and curved. It forms usually low bushes and its flowers are violet.
Another common species that may be confused with these is A. tunicata, with even smaller segments and the most vicious spines you could possibly imagine. It's easy to tell apart from the others because the spines are sheathed, so it's a double aggression, as the sheaths are just as sharp as the spine itself.
(other common species here in Europe is A. leptocaulis, but this one is easy to tell apart from the others)

Ok. .so this post, is mainly for Lem., as I hope that maybe Lem, and others can tell me for sure what variety of (opuntia) this is. The tag, said Varigated Cow's tongue Opuntia, but I am curious what you all think. I still need to repot it, but have been busy building the greenhouse. That's my major project this summer. Let me know what you all think.
