To me the white things look like animals ate the pad. They love young pads.
And I see the convolvus arvensis is blooming where you live. I really like this plant even if it's invasive.

I got these cuttings from a couple bushes growing near the edge of the forest where they are cutting to build a road. I went for a walk, and happened to see them behind the fenceline. Person probably tossed them over the fence, and they took.
Any idea what type of Opuntia these are?

Three weeks ago, green pups started to devellop on my opuntia humifusa. I was thinking that they were new growth and they are actually flower buds !
Check this out !
And new pads are coming from every other old pad too !

This reminds me, if you eat opuntia, you have to remove the flower buds or they suck up all the energy and they don't give you no new pads for a long while. I got that tip from a friend when I noticed that my opuntia stopped producing pads and just put out a ton of flowers. He gets mad and tells me I fucked up.

I've always wanted a variety with the pretty pink flowers. I was on a ranch out in thw oilfield and there was several of them. But I never took a paddle so I could grow. Yellow is nice but pink is better.

Yep, I have about a 1:10 ratio of pink to yellow, waaaay more pink than yellow.
Like I said, I got 10 acres and there are probably close to 500 of these cactus growing/flowering here.

Yeah those opuntia grow all over south texas brush like weeds. But that was the first time I saw a pink one. I was amazed but when you are out the working for 7 days straight, the last thing you wanna do on your way out is stop. You fly like a bat out hell.

Quick question, optunas have the same approach to rooting as other cacti, right? Let em callous, then pot em up?
I've got some pads I want to try to root.
-------------------- One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. 'Which road do I take?' she asked. 'Where do you want to go?' was his response. 'I don't know', Alice answered. 'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

I've been rooting most of my opuntia the same as I would a log cutting just by tossing it on top of dirt without bothering to prop it up or anything.
I would like to hear other people's opinions as well

Hell,I just break mine off,and throw them into soil right away.
They root every single time.
I've never calloused any of my rooting cacti.

I do this. Throw it on the ground and forget about it. Before you know it, it pups and is a new plant.

Opuntia is not as finicky as other cacti. You can throw it in soil or the ground and no callous needed.

some of the opuntias and relatives from my collection. Actually those are the small ones. I do own Humifusa and Ficus indica on my propriety, but of course i don't keep them on the balcony.
Also some IDs would be appreciated.
Dunno the name
Opuntia Diademata var Inermis. This one grows really fast. and it deserves a pot alone now because it proves to be a really beautiful exemplar. It's kinda dehidrated.
a Community pot with O Microdasys albispina, O Rufida, O monacantha Variegata, and other 2 i don't know the name (flat one and the one at the center, almost hidden.
Theprocactus Geometricus Grafted. i will try to root those 2 balls when they reach full size
Another Monacantha and the 2 fingerz you can se in my signature.
Two thephrocactus pheraps...
Cumulopuntia Berteri

I believe the first one is one of the countless forms of Opuntia fragilis. The flat one is Brasiliopontuia brasiliensis and the other one is an Airampoa sp. or a Tunilla sp.
