If i could figure out how to post a pic i would show you my finds. Fifty 3 today in my area that isnt on the ovoid map. .8 grms dried gave me a three hour hunt. Seached two football field areas out of 150 football field sized area. They where growing green but undamaged. Would that suggest high potentcy? Sorry my first year looking for these. Its raining should i go tomorrow in the same spot or just look in the other area?

If you go right after a rain the caps are brown from being soaked, wait for the sun to shine for a day it dries the caps a little and they will usually turn a lighter color that is easier to see

I went to my area after a 2 week layoff about an hour before dark and was pleased to find them still popping everywhere...In many cases they have outlasted the grasses and celandine that camouflaged them before. I forgot my phone so...no natural shots. Also found this wonderful gift under a huge sycamore tree where the eagles sometimes hang out to survey the creek. The feather in the photo, I believe is a immature bald eagle wing feather...it is over a foot long.

nice

funkmaster89 you are tearing it up for your first year! I didn't have your finds till my second year at it. Your really gonna load up come next season. When you've got a better eye for location and growth patterns.
Joust, Beautiful editing job! What on earth do you do to clean something up to your level? And, that is some amazing cluster action Neosporen has going on there.

Nice! I did end up going to check out a spot here in the city, but when I got down there I was greeted by a big blue sign saying to avoid contact with the water. Yeah ... no thank you. Looked around for a little to at least try and document them, but didn't see anything. The habitat looked pretty good, but that sign was sorta throwing off my wanting to find them. Kinda got me thinking though about your ovoids. If your really getting those nice looking things from withing the loop, you might want to make sure the soil in your spot is ok. I do a lot of foraging, but only from areas outside the city. You know, where the water flows from not through. Here's an article about growing and eating things in the city that definitely applies to mushrooms. They are notorious for gathering up the metals around them. Urban-gardening safety tips.

The patch in the third pic looks different too. I haven't found any that looks like that yet. I guess those are the pa ovoids, my ovoids look more like the first and second pics. Should we call them Ohio river ovoids? Appalachian ovoids? KY ovoids? Lol

I think people need to not worry about it, they're all ovoids...lol. I've found them that look like all these pics growing in the same habitat. I think the variance is what they are feeding off of.
