Hey all
Im thinking of doing a couple (my first) oyster grows but while Im at it I might as well give a cube basket a try too.
How much spawm would you normally use per basket?
And so do yoy put the basket in a trash bag to colonize? How do you fruit it?
Thx!

For oysters Ive read of one of those round laundry baskets being used. They used 5 quarts of spawn for oysters. I would probably use more if you were doing it with cubes. Yes you wrap it in a trashbag during colonization. To fruit it I would either put it outside in some shade as long as your in the climate for that, or put it in a greenhouse in doors. Oysters however benefit from LOTS of FAE from what Ive read

On YouTube there's a video about growing oysters in a landry basket of straw I think he used 7 quarts, but at the end it shows a nice log of PE on straw. I think I searched straw log on YouTube, I know I would love to try a PE straw log after seeing the video.
Its called laundry basket-straw log tec

Hmm.. maybe I could fruit outdoors but Id prefer not to. I didnt realize I couldnt fruit these indoors without a GH tho.
Cubes on straw are great I dont know why but they always seem to grow bigger. Might be because it holds water so nice? I like to throw like 30% straw into my CVG sub to stretch it out

You could put a clear trashbag over the basket to work as a humidity tent and just mist and fan it manually

if it was cool temp enough (basement/garage?), u could probably throw remay or burlap over it loosely, and keep that wet for humidity. mist the straw every now and then too

Yea? I have a few rolls of burlap in my garage
Is there a better way for indoor oysters?

Pink oysters can fruit in warmer temperatures if you dont mind growing those
