Nice mantids.
I plan to breed some exotic mantids one day. My goal is to have a bunch of Ghost Mantis and Orchid Mantis. Both of those are so beautiful.
I'll have to grow my own food that flies though which will be the challenge.

the babies like wet cat food too, like i said. they just need a little coaxing before they realise its food. he seems to like turkey-gravy FancyFeast. but ignoring the beef string

Nice one Gresh. They're kinda scary.
How many of them do you expect to survive to maturity?

Moonshoe has not molted, but hasnt passed away either.
hes been eating regularly. he actually ate the head of a blowfly, along with 3 gnats today. he ate more today than ever actually.
i just dont know whats wrong with the little guy. its been more than two weeks and he hasnt molted.
i'm hoping that its normal, and the internet has just misinformed me about their lifecycle

Unfortunately, Moonshoe passed away last night. probably 12-18 hours ago
yesterday he wouldnt eat, and would barely move at all. i got up this morning and he was laying flat on his side.
He was a pretty cool dude, but didnt want to molt. its probably my fault though, one way or another
this whole thread just turned depressing, but i figured i wouldnt leave anyone hanging.

there are still mantises around my yard probably. at least i hope
i hatched 4 cases (one got eaten by ants) outside, so there were about 800 of the little things total.
maybe ill see some adults in the late summer/early fall

That just reminded me of when I was in middle school some kid brought some small rodents to school, I forget exactly what. Hamsters maybe.
Anyways he was keeping them in his locker... Some escaped and one went and died in a girls bathroom or something. I thought it was kind of funny.
Besides the animal abuse side of it.
At the same school another kid stole his moms mace and brought it to school, the during class was excused to the bathroom where he ran around spraying it.
Mid class everyone started coughing all of a sudden then there was an alarm and a emergency broadcast to go outside ASAP.
At least one student and teacher were hospitalized due to allergies...

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

For what it's worth OP, the same thing happened to me when I tried to raise Carolina mantids. I don't think that species is the best for captivity; but some people seem to have a lot of success with them.
I want to try the giant Chinese mantid before ordering the trickier exotic ones.
Here's some mantid porn:

This is the ghost mantis, one of the species I want to breed:

And the orchids mantis, the other species I hope to someday breed:
