I have just got some fruiting happening on my first ever attempt at growing thanks to the info on this forum.
I notice i have some deformed shrooms growing off my cakes and there is a slight green tinge on a few of them do i toss this all out or just the deformed ones. Will be a shame to toss it as it's taken a long time to get to this point but health and safety comes first - any advise greatly appreciated.

Im still a noob but from what I can tell those two freaky ones are just fine, they're just mutants as you already know. And I dont really see that greenish tin you metioned. It could just be brushing possibly. Those are my two cents you're good. Although you could wait and see if that one cake with the greenish tin gets worse and then maybe you could identify if its a contamination or not. Its looks fine though.

Agh doh! i removed those deformed mushrooms last night as i just didnt think they could be trusted and then today there is a sort of purple mold as shown in the pics. Now i fear i really will have to toss it all. So close
Or is this something other than evil mold.

Bro, those are the spores lol. When the veil brakes, the caps drop thousands of of them and they are usually dark purple when it comes to psilocybe cubensis. Don't toss it! shame you lost the mutes

purple mold is most likely just spores

Are mutants like that good to harvest, dry and eat? For anyone that knows.
Also brother, try cutting the aluminum foil around the cakes to the size of the actual cake. That or put them on a plastic jar lid or something? You basically want them on something as big as their base, so that the water doesn't puddle under/on them.
Edit: That purple stuff is in fact spores. I would possibly remove that part of the perlite.

Thanks so much for the responses - really appreciate it my inexperience is showing but i'm glad that these are spores and not something else. I'm wondering if there is anything i should do with those spores or if you have any tips for me on how i can improve things next time. I'm also somewhat confused as the mushrooms appear to be different types but i'm pretty sure i ordered all the same syringes.
Thanks again you guys rock.

You ordered multi-spore syringes, they're basically all the same species, but different genetics. Like were both human, but were also different. Those are just making your perlite dirty basically, hahah. What you can do with spores is prove yourself with your own hand made spore prints!
You have to harvest them before they dump their load, and when you pick them does matter.
Look up RR's videos "Lets grow mushrooms" and buy them. They're like 10 buck i think?? Totally worth the information you get.

Great advice all around
To the person asking before, mutants are edible and produce the same effects as regular mushrooms.
