4000k > 2700k ?
    #21684695 - 05/15/15 08:46 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

So my last grow, I was using a 2700k cfl *facepalm*
Think if I swapped to 4000k I'd have better results?
I've read 5000k - 6500k is optimal, but I'm short on funds as per usual.

Natural diffused light works as well

I'd greatly appreciate a link, and I'm probably over-thinking what diffused light actually is.

Sunlight from the window. I put my tubs in a spot so that when the sun sets it'll hit them with direct sunlight for a couple hours. It's AMAZING. No grow lights. Just ambient room sunlight.

My take on electrical, artificial lighting is (if at all possible to achieve for the individual cultivator), ambient sunlight should be utilized as the main source of light delivery to the mushrooms, and electric light (in the 6500K range) should be thought of/used as an additive/supplement (supplement being the better word, imo) to naturally occurring ambient sunlight.

It is where light enters through window and mini blinds or curtains allow most of the sunlight enter your FC...

Hope that helps you...

I've got a T5 ballast that supports four 2ft bulbs. Think I could just use two 6500K and two 2700K bulbs to get roughly the same results? Part of me feels like it would support a whole room of monotubs, and part of me wants to put it directly over a single sgfc, though that'll be too bright, right?

I just got this CFL bulb for $9 from amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AZOV9K?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

its 42W but equivalent of 150W.  its super bright and for the price its hard to beat.  FRom what I understand 6500K is optimal.

Those fit the same as a 60w?
Looks like it would fit, but I just presumed 100w and 150w were slightly wider for whatever reason.

its a medium base, E26 I believe.  The bulb is a lot larger than I was expecting though... something to keep in mind, based on enclosure youre using.
