Some of my Garden Pics, Ethnos, Grafts, Fruits and others
    #21730887 - 05/28/15 12:51 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

These are shitty pics so if you want a clearer one let me know and i'll take the time to put a better one up.

Here in the bridge I had to cut in the winter because of rot and I can see it in the early stages of pupping in 2 of the upper areoles. It's hard to see in this pic but it's the very early stages where the areoles start to swell.

Here is my new kanna plant I received from a good friend. Thanks buddy and it's starting to perk back up.

This is the loph that completely stopped growing. S o what I did was yank it up breaking roots and all and buiried it a lot deeper and a lil over a week later I'm finally getting new growth.

Here's my lil froggy buddy hanging out with my lithop.

Valerian in my veggie garden.

Lemon balm and klip Dagga in my veggie garden.

Yeah,it's like mush,and I don't understand what happened to it in transit:shrug:

I haven't thrown it out yet though,it could sprout new growth from the roots,ya think?

I don't know about most of you, but I know I won't throw away a plant till months after it looks dead...

It's half laziness/half holding onto hope something may happen... Sometimes the 'dead' plants surprise me...  I'm not sure what happened to it man. I noticed the first time I put them outside, they wilted pretty quickly, but after watering they perked back up... They seemed like they were fighters. Who knows, if the root system isn't too F'd up, it might throw out some new growth. If it was me, I'd hang onto it till you just knew it was gone...

Damn I just read what I wrote last night and fuck was I drunk:facepalm:

Anyways I took some shitty pics today of some of the plants in my garden and a couple other things I'm working with atm. I'll try to take some better pics with my cannon camera soon but it takes me soooo long to upload pics from that camera so I figured these would be best for now.

This is a quick shitty pic of my cacti in my greenhouse.

My carrots with some tomatoes in the background.

My Asclepias tuberosa "orange butterfly weed" Butterflies love these things when they're in bloom but they're kinda hard to grow from seed and nearly just as hard to dig up without killing. I just got lucky with this one.

Here are a couple of my herb pots and I know I planted them to closely together. I'll work on transplant some tomorrow and spreading them out a bit.

Here is my Klip Dagga pot with my passion flower at the bottom ll. They're in the process of flowering atm and only buried in about 4 to 5 inches of soil:nonono: Really I was just testing to see how well they would grow so I was surprised to see them take off like they have.

A couple of my lemon balm plants

Peruvian purple potatoes in the front and smaller honey gold potatoes in the back. I was hoping to cross pollinate them to see what I come up with but looking at my aunts potato flowers I don't know where the pollen is. Can anyone help me figure out how to make this work?

And here are a couple of my valerian plants.

I plan to take a few more pics of some of the other plants I have around the yard tomorrow but for the most part this is my garden. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I have:grin:

Ya got yourself a nice garden there, spacey. Seems like every time I see someone growing something I don't have, I immediately want to grow it....

You've added some things to my wish list now... Thanks a lot

I was hoping someone would enjoy this. I wanna see you grow some carrots BTW:smirk:.
In the second row of carrots I planted I have multi colored carrots with red, yellow, purple, white and some other color or 2. I'll try to remember to take some pics of my peppers, brussel sprouts and some other herbs I have growing in the garden tt. I'll probably go out and check my pawpaw cherry and peach trees tomorrow and snap a few pics of them as well as my 3 pomegranate trees that are coming back this year.

Her cRm did you ever get your kratom cuttings to root?

I have so many issues getting cuttings to root so if you have any info that could help me please fill me in. I tend to use rooting hormone as well as a humidity dome. I have had a few beautiful clematis cuttings root but for some reason I'm way better with seeds than I am taking cuttings:shrug:

I haven't done any yet this year.

In the past I have tried a few different ways and had kind of settled into rooting in my bubble cloner thingy I made. That worked okay, probably 70% struck roots from that. But the problem from that method came from when I tried putting em in soil. Almost all of them suffered along and eventually died out. My best cuttings I have (that I pictured in another post recently) were using a a different technique. It's basic, just starting with a longer cutting, rooting hormone and straight to soil.

I would prefer being able to get the cloner method to get working rather than the straight to soil method just because it's easier for me to clip shorter 3 node cuttings off the tree than waiting for the tree to spit out a suitable 5 node cutting. It just feels more 'inefficient' to do the longer straight to soil cutting. But, it works.

Anyway, short answer - no haven't tried any this year yet, but will be starting some probably by this weekend

Ok so here are a few more shitty pics I took today.

Brussel sprouts with carrots in the back.

2 cherry trees I recently transplanted. I hate cherries honestly but I ate a few off the tree that these were growing from and they were the best cherries EVER! I had to grow me some of my own.

Yeah, that was me. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the fact that I usually don't give them half a chance, really. Not giving em nice loose dirt, or trying to grow em in pots...

Besides looks, what difference (if any) are there between those and the standard grocery store russet potatoes I am used to seeing? Different taste/texture at all?

Maori potatoes or Taewa are usually smaller, more like a yam. The flesh is purple, golden or White. Textures vary between cultivars from waxy through to floury. The white fleshed, purple skin ones are similar to normal spuds. The purple skin and flesh varieties don't mash well at all and contain lots of good phytonutrients, due to their purple colour. The texture is different from normal potatoes. Better baked or steamed, better in a hangi. :laugh:rool:

Thanks guys and karode I think you deserve +5 for all you do here:grin:

Anyways here are a few more pics from today.

Here's 2 of my 3 pomegranate trees that came back this year. I'll see if I can find the pic of the other 1.

From the front another Bolivian Rainbow pepper, lemon balm Klip Dagga and valerian in the very back. I don't think you can see it but at the very end there's a sugar baby watermelon;)

Here is my rooted rubber tree and 6 or 7 cuttings I took from it that I hope root "I really suck at taking cuttings for some reason:facepalm:". Also my 2 peace lilies and one of the bags of clematis cuttings I took from a bush my aunt has that you can't buy anymore for some reason. They're a beautiful DEEP purple color hybrid with beautifully shaped flowers. I'll see if I can go down there and snap a pic of the mother plant.

This it the beginning of my woods and in that pic you can see 2 or 3 big paw paw trees that I'm hoping to collect fruit from this year. BTW there are about 40 or so paw paw trees growing around there in the front of my woods. I plan to dig a few of the smaller ones up and transplant them in the back yard in full sun so I don't have to worry about all the poison oak and ivy:shakefist:.

A few tomatoes I snapped a pic of and 1 crested wild flower that's gonna make some good fruit. I found one that was like 3 flowers all in 1 and I snapped a pic but I can't find it atm so be on the look out for me to post it when I find it.

You have an AMAZING garden spacey. What kind of tiller do you have to get that much ground ready? I've gotta get me a good tiller by next year, everything I have done so far has been on a weedeater tiller attachment... And that is TIRING!

Thought I'd post a few more in hopes to liven this place up and keep kactus on here if he hasn't already taken off.

Granddaddy purple X white widow I believe and some wild zamal along with some other plants I'm working on right now:wink:

These are my containers full of cactus seedlings "all different types".

I think this is that triple flower I was talking about.

Shit ton of dragon fruit seedlings that need to be transplanted and taken outside when I find time:tongue:

This is for kactus. I trimmed a bunch of leaves that I'm gonna let dry or pop in the oven real quick to dry faster. I was just wandering if you would smoke this or just toss it. I've smokes some when I did my first trimming and it was pretty good even though it was just leaves but they have only very small trichomes.

OI've ran out of space in my gallerie so i'll delete a few tomorrow if I get a chance and post some more pics of the other things I'm growing atm:super:

Very nice bro:thumbup:

What's the deal with you getting all these crested, and mutant plants:lol:

I've never seen a tomato bloom like that before!

As far as those leaves go,if you have real buds,I would just toss it,but that shit would get me high as hell right now, because I have no tolerance anymore, and I would kill for that:lol:

Yea dude I haven't smokes in about a month so I know it would get me lit. It's a nice batch of leaves too. I'm trying to keep my plants compact and small with a shit ton of branches so I plan to keep trimming to about a foot to a foot and a half to keep them small and flower them outside when fall starts to hit because I don't have proper lights to do it indoors.

Smoke that shit up then!

I'm like you,I detest tall lanky plants, and I grow all my plants, including cannabis in a bushy fashion.

I've actually grown killer buds indoors under those before, but outdoors can't be beat:thumbup:

Dude I don't know why but I get all kinds of mutants and it's like they cluster around me. It's always been that way and I don't know why or if I'm doing something to them to cause it. anyways I love me some mutants so I aint complaining.

I think I have an albino or clear loph but it might have been to long on it's own roots to save but I'm gonna try grafting it tomorrow when I get back so wish me luck and I'll take some photos if it works:wink:

Man, I wish I was able to grow some cannabis. I mean, I can, but due to my past, I've told myself I won't grow or smoke till it becomes legal around here. Hopefully that is sooner rather than later...

Wait, you are wearing your doctor's gloves, hair net, smock, and everything when you are within 50 feet of your plants, right? They tend to go mutant when they breathe spaceman air....

Okay, bad joke. But I swear, you must be breathing mutant air out on em or something. You have more mutant plants than anyone else I have seen.

Dude I know and I don't understand it. I've also got 2 variegated nitrous crosses that I need to graft tomorrow too or they probably won't make it. I don't have enough room in my humidity grow chamber to fit really anything else in there though. I don't really know what to do:justdontknow:

I need a new chamber but I'm really low on cash. 75% of my grafts are all mutated in some way or another especially the nitrous crosses.

Have you ever tried what karode was talking about using the plastic wrap over the graft?

(I swear I'm gonna punch myself in the face if I am misquoting this, but)
Seems like he said when you place the graft on, you put the saran wrap over it and fold it down to hold graft, but when you remove it humidity isn't really needed at that point.

That might reduce your need for an actual humidity chamber...

Am I remembering what he said correctly? (I'm off to recheck the thread to see...)

I don't know for sure but that does kinda ring a bell. I really need a new chamber and another heating mat. I'll see if I can't get on that tomorrow some time.

Close enough. Humidity tents aren't needed at all when you use cling film. Leave the film on for several days and then remove. By this time the graft has taken well enough and should be showing some callusing where the graft union is. I slowly introduce the new grafts to stronger light over a week, just to stop any shock from happening.

I need to give some credit where credit is due. It was a combination of karode, and ferrel's info I was merging in my head there. So thanks to both of you.

I actually just pulled the plastic off my second attempts at grafting and they seem to have stuck, so now I will be egarly waiting for them to plump up and confirm that they are actually taken to the stock.

Anyway, karode, just to clarify, when you use the plastic wrap method, once you pull the plastic, you don't have any other humidity you put them in right? Just pull the plastic after a few days and let it hang out in ambient humidity, right?

Do you have a pic of one of your grafts you've done this way. I wanna give it a shot but I work best from sight.

I didn't take any pics of mine for some reason but here is a pic of karode's showing the method. It's pretty basic and straightforward.

Just place scion on top as you normally would, then form a piece of plastic wrap on a sharpie or something, like this:

Then place it on the graft. It acts in two ways at once. First, it holds it's own humidity. Second, it keeps pressure on the graft to help it hold.

Karode says he pulls the plastic down and maybe preses against the peres spines to hold everything in place but I did that in addition to placing a clothespin around the wrap on the peres (as suggested by ferrel) to keep extra pressure... Just picture the first image with a clothespin around the lower area of the plasic wrap grabbing the plastic and peres

Here's a pic of my last Moringa tree I grew this year. I planted one in the ground that was doing really well but I dropped a pot on it and it broke in half so I guess I'll replace it with this one and hope for the best.

This I took a pic of for my kactus buddy. I figure you'd like it I also have about 30 of these planted on the side of my storm house;)

I thought I'd through in a few of my wood pics. I took these at the edge of my yard looking into my woods with my shitty ass phone.

I love this one and the paw paws at the bottom:grin:

Are you sure they aren't the common snapping turtles?

Alligator snapping turtles are extremely rare, and endangered in our area man,and I've never found one in all my years hunting and collecting reptiles.

That being said,it's a federal offense to make soup with them any way because they are endangered.

Yeah, and I demand a pic next time you find one:yesnod:

I've been hunting reptiles for close to 30 years, and they have always been on my list of reptiles to catch!

Status in Tennessee: The Alligator Snapping Turtle is listed as “In Need of Management” by TWRA, and considered rare to very rare and imperiled by Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Populations were severely reduced in the past due to unregulated harvesting and habitat loss.

In my uncles 2 ponds. There are tons down there. Whenever I go back out there I'll snap a pic of one. You can tell a difference between and alligator and a regular snapping turtle easily and there are plenty. He lets Mexicans come down and catch them and the regular snappers to take home for soup every year.

Wow,so,it seems like,you have a nice population down there:thumbup:

I'm not saying you didn't know the difference but most people don't,and I just was making sure.

Most everybody around here calls the common snapping turtle an alligator snapper, and the two aren't even related species believe it or not.

Even though your uncle owns the pond they are in,it's still against the law to kill them because they are almost wiped out to extinction.

Just letting you know buddy:thumbup:

Shit dude I'd never even known this. He was a sherrif dow here for years so if I told him about this he would most likely stop letting people come by and catch them.

Yea we have a shit ton of regular snappers here and in my life I've seen not as many but still not many less alligator snappers with the longer noses and that lil worm appendage in the tip of their mouth. They're also a good bit larger than every day snappers.

I'll get you a pic next time I see 1. I usually see 1 or 2 every year but I don't really go looking for them.

Yeah,I know you can't kill them here,it may different in Tennessee, but I doubt it because they are endangered.

Anyway,I would love to see a pic one if you're ever out and have you camera handy:yesnod:

Well,if I were staying in this area,I would say yes,but down in Florida Alligator snapping turtles are pretty common, just not up here.

Dude, those woods pics were awesome, and I's never known about the paw paw tree, can you get me some seeds sometime?

I don't think they grow here.

How does the fruit taste?

This I took a pic of for my kactus buddy. I figure you'd like it I also have about 30 of these planted on the side of my storm house;)

I thought I'd through in a few of my wood pics. I took these at the edge of my yard looking into my woods with my shitty ass phone.

I love this one and the paw paws at the bottom:grin:

I found an Alligator snapper one time years ago trying to cross an old country road. That is one of like two I have ever seen in the wild around here. I know there are more though. I ended up catching him and taking him back to the closest pond (which was the pond he was leaving) as there was no other water nearby... IDK where he was going...

Spaceman, that moringa is looking nice. I lost mine over the winter.

--------------------
One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

my moringa is only a couple of inches tall, and it's months old.

It's one of the few plants that I potted up in that miracle grow perlite that is still alive:facepalm:

I know people think I'm full of shit, and that it's not the perlite, but I'm telling you, almost all my plants died from this, and the ones that are alive have totally stopped growing, and I mean totally.

I would have tossed the moringa months ago,but it's the only one I have left, and I have no more seeds to start more:sad:

I still have a few moringa seeds I got awhile back from our buddy:wink:

I plan to plant it in the ground where I broke my other one. I just don't know if I need to ween it out of my greenhouse and back into direct full sun:justdontknow:

I don't know why but these plants are very iffy in their growth and seem to need things to be very specific. I think I've finally got it all worked out now:smirk:

BTW that perlite in there is miracle grow perlite as well as every speck of perlite you see in every pot I have there:tongue: Also the pots I sprouted all my cactus and other plant seedlings sooo:shrug:

Maybe you just got a bad bag. I washed the perlite like ferrel told me to with this new soil I'm using to grow seedlings and to plant a couple other lophs I have in.

Right on man,and I think my problem with the perlite was that I put way too much perlite, and not enough soil, which probably over dosed them with chemicals:facepalm:

Had I known it had plant food in it,I wouldn't have done this.

Next time I'm thoroughly reading the labels:yesnod:

There will never be a next time with miracle grow products though!

I hoping my moringa will eventfully resume growth,it's still alive.

They were nice and the one on the top made good turtle soup.

Still looking to see if I got one of that gater and my uncles house we cooked up without knowing they were endangered a couple years ago. Those 2 were taken a LONG time ago.

A couple of my klip daggas beginning to flower.

Passion flower. It hasn't grown much this year so I'm wandering if it should be potted in a larger container or ground to help it to grow better?

garden side view

I was hoping to ask kactus if this is how he was taught to tie tomatoes. I was always taught to tie them tightly but I always hated them looking so bunched up.

I'll upload more a lil later today.

Had to take a couple down because I forgot I had something on that day I use when roaming the woods "for safety". I'll snap a few others in their place today.

Very nice man:awethumb:

I tie my tomatoes a little more tightly, just to make secure they are secure, and don't sag.

This year I have a trellis, and they seem to be adhering to it on their own.

That weed grows all over here too, looks just like parsley, and has  peculiar smell.

That passion flower will do very well in the ground, which reminds me,I gotta go out and dig one up to take to Florida with me!
They are everywhere here!

Sure did although I don't think there is any mint in that one and there is also sage in the center but it's hard as hell to see in this pic. Good IDing buddy:super:

I plucked up a couple of my carrots today for good measure "and a fresh meal" and I also snapped a pic of one of my  tomato plants with strange leaves that I thought someone would enjoy.

Good stuff, Spaceman..

I am getting ready to rip out the pea-plants I started in Feb, as they are about done producing now. And dump out the potato tub, too. almost my potato harvest here too. the Poppy plants next to the peas and potato are getting real big. :crazy2:  have high hopes for Poppy this year.

I don't want to take over your thread, as I know some people get agro about posting images and things on other people's thread, but I thought you might want to see some of my stuff too.

Here's my BIG Poppy.. the Stalk is just starting to form, no bloom bud yet, but I am waiting.. . lol I got my camera ready for when it does bloom.

This is my pot, with (3) Japanese Black Trifele-tomato. I noticed this morning the flower buds are just about to open. Maybe even this afternoon.

And just for fun, we have one Late-bloomer.. or out of season bloom. A (Primula)-Primrose lil pink one.

Heya Spaceman and others.

You wanted to see my outdoor cactus-gigs. . so here are some.

this is the lil gymno, I have had outdoors. . It has a lil Brown damage from weathering, but seems to have settled into its spot in my rock garden

this is a (clone) of my epiphyllum, that since going outside for the summer, has gone.. BOOM with growth.

Here are my 2 Largest Pedros. One has volunteer tomato-plants growing synergistic with it. Lycopersicons (tomato) species grow wild in the same habitats as some Trichos, in south america.. I decided to let the tomato co-exist with the pedro, for now. I'll probably repot it after the tomato is done for the year.

here are my other 2 varieties of outdoor-in-ground cacti. 2 varieties of Opuntia

I snapped a few pics yesterday to update things here.

I was originally told I couldn't grow brussel sprouts this far south so I snapped a pic of this and sent it to my uncle who told me that and he about shit a brick:lol:

I planted a Moringa in the ground awhile back and I dropped an flower pot on it trying to get the yard ready to mow. I noticed this yesterday when I was preparing to plant my other in the same spot.

Klip Dagga getting ready to open their blooms.

This Butterfly was going spastic over my Butterfly weed. He was sooo engrossed in it he let me get within inches to snap some photos. I have more closer ones that I'll upload later.

Peruvian Purple Potato patch.

Garden planted Valerian and Dagga.

Flowering Catnip box.

Giant Hibiscus getting ready to flower. It's kind of a miracle because this winter killed all my others along with almost all my families flowers as well. I wasn't expecting to see them come back but I was greatly pleased when I did.

Thanks kactus I've got a few more pics here that you might like as well.

A couple small poppies planted abusively along with other un happy plants I need to take the time to care for properly.

This is the tomato that grew from that crested flower I took awhile back "Brandywine plant"

A couple more interesting flowers. I can't wait to see how the tomatoes grow.

These are the Sida plants I posted pics of awhile back after a good transplant to a new pot. They're looking fairly healthy now and have put on new leaves where they had dropped them before.

And here is the Kanna plant a good friend of mine sent me. Thanks Buddy "you know who you are "

Your poppies will bloom soon, whether you're ready for them or not.

Dude, you get way too many mutants, and I've come to the conclusion that your fertilizer is causing these mutations:lol:

I don't think it had anything to do with fert because I only used it once or twice actually. Once when I planted to wet the soil during the transplant and once during a watering when they were still young with one of those MG fert sprayers even though I wasn't using MG fert at the time.

I've always seen lots of mutants. Pretty much every time I plant a load of seeds I'll get a few mutants as well. I guess it's just my aura:lol:

I should change my screen name to ToxicAvenger101 Due to all the mutants I've aquired:rofl:

OOPs I forgot to add when I tilled the garden out last fall I used a few 5 gallon buckets of Chicken poo and worked it into the soil so I didn't need to use really any fert whatsoever this year.

I sure do love to watch my Mutants grow though :wizard:  :zombie2:

Got a few more updated pics.

Here's a Zebra Swallowtail I snapped a pic of today. They are SUPER rare around here because they are sooooooo timid. This one actually let me touch it while it was going into a frenzy on this butterfly weed. This is a true miracle caught on camera:grin:

A hand full of carrots I picked for my grandmother who loves them raw.

A couple more crested flowers that will produce crested tomatoes like this one.

Klip Dagga in flower.

I've been talking about my PawPaws so I carefully snuck into my woods avoiding all the poison Ivy and poison oak due to my allergic reactions to them I was highly under dressed to go into the woods but I wanted to see the pawpaw in flower.

Sida cordifolia growing beautifully after a repotting:grin:

Here's my Kanna plant I received from a good friend.
I haven't seen much growth but they are beautiful and wonderful.

I'm getting a bit sleepy and I got to get up really early tomorrow I'm gonna hit the bed so I'll talk to you guys later with more pics:grin:

No joke but this is all 1 tomato.

I believe at first it was 2 different mutated tomatoes but the 2 "each on a separate stalk" seem to have grown so closely together that they fused together.

That 1 mutated tomato U have my thumb on seems "in it's self" to be a 3 crested flower growing 3 fruits in 1 with the added bonus of fusing into the smaller crested tomato next to it:grin:

what variety of tomato is it again, Spaceman? My Cherokee black tomatoes sometimes come out looking like that too. I was curious if it is that variety.

Weird!! I was just reading this thread the other night and when I went out to water my veggies I noticed my first tomato of the year is also some weird mutant too. My first mutant tomato ever, I think?! That I can remember anyways =) I've been growing for a couple of years now too, hmm, maybe 5 or 6? Must be something in the air, or water, or soil, or idk, haha! Strange.

Great photos everybody =) Thanks for sharing!

Thanks niki. I seem to get them every year to some degree but for some reason this year is spitting out mutants back and forth.

I also grow from seed too so that might be why I tend to get a lot of them.

That plant in the picture I posted a couple threads up I took some suckers from in hopes to clone those mutated genetics:grin:

Here are a few updated pics I'll put on here real quick.

This one I took for Ferrel. damn this thing grows quick;y:grin:

And this one I took for IL. I have many more and they seem to be growing very nicely

This one is for Lemnaminor. Also I was wondering if this tall growth for these plants? I've had them in full sun for awhile now but they still stretch:justdontknow:

Here is my Passion Flower I dug up last year and transplanted t so it can wrap and support it's weight.

Here are my chamomile plants with my Hollyhocks and a couple Chinese Lantern Flower.

This is the first time I've had a fruit like this so I was wondering how I would harvest these seeds and what time would be best.

Happy Lophs:grin:

My dragon fruit plants are pupping wildly and it's pretty large so I'm wondering if it might flower sometime soon.

Here is a Black Hollyhock I grew from seed last year and it's blooming very well this year over at my aunts. I plan to transplant it to my place soon or wait till I move and do it after it's done blooming.

I have many more I'll upload here in the next day or 2.

Here are a bunch of pics I took today of My garden, Ethnos, Grafts and other things I've been working with.

It's a lot of pics so I'm just gonna post them willy nilly like. I figure most of you know what alot of these plants are without me having to label them and all but I will a few. I hope you all enjoy.

Birdhouse Gourd.

Both of these peppers were grown from the exact same seeds I received from kactus last year. I'm guessing genetics caused the differences in these Bolivian Rainbow Peppers:justdontknow:

Shit ton of Klip Dagga.

Roma tomatoes.

Moringa tree in a pot. I have one in the ground too but I can't find my pic.

My yellow loph came down with something and I thought it would be best to shave off the gooey area. Probably a bad Idea but it seems to have bounced back although it hasn't grown since then.

These were taken just a few steps into my woods. All of these are Pawpaw trees with the big leaves.

Here are a couple spiders I found hanging out on my Pawpaw trees

Here Is The FUCKING SATAN BEETLE!!! I hate these Bastards:shakefist:

Here are a few of the passion Flower plants I dug up the other day on the side of an old country road. I'm working on nursing them back to health for family and friends. These flowers are soooo beautiful.

I have a question about this Bridge pup. I noticed it was rotting awhile ago so I cut the rotted area off but now it seems to be spreading so I guess I missed some of it. Will the main bridge stalk be in danger of rot if I leave it attached?

Forgot to add this last night.

I was hoping someone could fill me in on what plant this could be. I know we have Ginseng out here and I know the leaves look similar to these but I don't know for sure. I was always told as a child that leaves that look like these are Poison Ivy "or Oak I can't remember which is which".

Also does anyone know what these could be as well?

You sure do have a green thumb, spacey! You garden is epic!

What's the history on that passiflora flower you have there. Do you know what species it is? I just got one myself that is practically identical to that one. I think I narrowed what I think mine is to P. incarnata.

Not sure what your mystery plant is there. Looks like it might be ginseng. Not 100% sure though.
I found this for ya though.

'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

I've never posted my passiflora before so I've never gotten an ID on it but I'm guessing Incarnata as well. They grow wildly here along the old country roads that nobody mows. I dug up 8 new plants yesterday and so far 4 seem to be bouncing back well so I know for sure I'll have 4 new passiflora to work with this season:excited:

Did you see the butterfly that landed on the flower as I was taking pics?

cRm have you ever seen any growth like this before?

I'm wondering if it might be Zebra Swallowtail egg sacks. I just found out the reason I have so many Zebra Swallowtail butterflies around here because the Larva feast solely on PawPaw flowers and nothing else.

Those Butterflies are SOOOO Rare around here but I've seen more this year than I've seen in my entire lifetime elsewhere.

Lol no worries man, I'll still talk at ya!

But no, never seen any growth quite like that before. My immediate thought was egg sacs or something like you mentioned. That must be what it is.

Do you find your dagga is a big butterfly attractant as well? I imagine them being quite the treat for them.

Yeah, I never realized that passiflora of any kind grew wild around this area of the country, but one day walking back from my fishing spot, I saw a random single flower that caught my eye and I was just dumbstruck! Absolutely couldn't believe my eyes! Went back and got a couple cuttings the next day after researching what it was. I just had to have it - the damn flowers are just SO amazing I think. And as a bonus, they produce fruit too!

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

Yea dude the only reason I thought it might be zebra swallowtail was because it was on some kind of leafy vine growing up a Pawpaw tree. I'll have to look up what their egg sacks look like to know for sure.

The dagga is a butterfly attractor but it pales in comparison to all my different butterfly weeds. second in line would be catnip and basal flowers then the dagga flowers for butterfly attraction.

They are some of my absolute favorite flowers up there with clematis.

What kind of flowers have you grown this year and which are your absolute favorites?

Oh heck, I didn't do too much in the way of flowers this year but I would have to say my favorite (even though they haven't bloomed yet) would be dahlias. I've also got tulips, daylillies, dagga, roses, and some other bulb plant that flowers I can't remember it's name. Soon, I want to get an orchid plant or two, and more dahlias and tulips.
