Terrifying Trip Question

Hello users of the Shroomery!
A few months ago, I had my first mushroom trip. I dosed 3.2 dried grams with my friends. The first hour was absolutely beautiful and produced the most amazing visuals I have ever seen. However after about an hour in, it went downhill. Fast. I started having a bad trip out of nowhere and my entire world started to collapse. I was literally seeing hallucinations of nature trying to terrorize and kill me. After my numerous experiences with LSD, I was confronted with something that never happened when I took LSD. I was seeing things that weren't actually there. In the past, LSD had led me to trip very hard, however, I could still tell what was going on and I had control the entire trip. Not to mention, everything I was seeing on LSD was reality. It was just very altered. With my mushroom trip, I couldn't tell what was going on. Three hours later, I was losing my mind and was having extremely severe anxiety attacks. When I closed my eyes at one point, I saw a figure reach out and tryed pulling me towards it.
Today, I was given an eighth of some decently nice mushrooms. I am skeptical to take them, but I really do want to experience a good mushroom trip. I can seeing as being a complete life-changing experience. I just want to know, what should I do different this time? How can I not have a repeat of last time? That was the only mushroom trip I ever had, and it was the complete, word for word, straight out of the dictionary, pure meaning of terror and fear. Please help me out.
Thanks Shroomery!

Don't try to control your trips. It is likely that your last trip went so bad because of that misconception.
Sounds to me that the fungus tried to show you something that you were not ready for. Unfortunately no one on the internet can help you in these respects...it is something that only you can fix or adapt to.
Try rethinking your intentions, ask yourself what you want to gain from the experience - then comeback and research proven methods for using these tools to achieve what you want.
I have found that with mushrooms, all you can really do is prepare the set and setting. From there the fungus will have her way with you...so it is best not to fight it because it can quickly change from consensual lovemaking to mind-rape.

Exactly what the last poster has said.... You have to learn to let go and realise that not all your shroom trips will generally be easy and beautiful. A lot of my shroom trips now are very hard to deal with, however they leave me with the information I never knew I even wanted. They leave me alive and refreshed. You have to learn to just breath normally and know that the mushrooms can't and wont kill you. Sometimes I find myself saying out loud "do your worst". Because I know that in a couple of hours it all starts to naturally mellow out.
I find it helps to have some benzos around. Even I you don't end up taking them just the mere fact of knowing you have some pills that can help shut down your anxiety can really do wonders. Xanax works a treat.
I'm sure you have gained something from this last trip whether you know it or not. Maybe you could try lowering your dosage a bit. Depending on the strength 2-2.5g of cubes should give you the trip you're looking for while being a little easier to manage.

I think your prior experience with LSD caused your bad trip. You tried to treat the mushroom as you would LSD, and the mushroom would not have it. I had a bad mushroom trip for the same reason, was doing tons of acid, high doses, no problems. I figured it would be no big deal to eat an 8th of some extremely potent penis envy even though I was very inexperienced with mushrooms at that time. Boy I was wrong.
Then, after I got to know the mushroom spirits I had a similar experience with San Pedro. I took a foot of Pedro, tried to treat to the San Pedro spirit as though it were mushrooms and got my ass kicked.
So, you must respect each entheogen individually (especially the natural ones, which are infinitely more spiritual). The mushroom experience is NOT about control, it is opposite of LSD in that respect. The more you trust the mushroom and surrender yourself to it, opening yourself as much as possible to whatever it wishes to show you, trusting that it will be for your benefit and the benefit of all beings, the better experiences you will have. So, it is about letting go of control and having faith.
My motto is, trust God, trust yourself, trust God's medicine. Setting your intention prior to the trip can also be helpful. Choose an intention like healing, spiritual growth, compassion, etc. Don't choose "see pretty visuals" as your intention.

All of these responses were honestly amazing. I can't thank you guys enough. When I take psychedelics, the main purpose is to learn more about myself, as well as form a greater connection with nature. Ideas also flow more easily and I always become overwhelmed with happiness; every trip. The only trip excluded of course, is my last mushroom trip. Despite the fact that it was a bad trip, I learned more about myself during that trip than any other. I went through complete ego-loss and realized many things about life and how to resolve certain problems I had.

well I think if you plan well (good set/setting, lots to keep you occupied, music etc.) and take time to prepare this time you'll see where your last trip was supposed to go!(:

Do people make new accounts for the sole purpose of making threads like this for a laugh? I'm not being a dick, or trying to be one, but damn, I see a thread like this nearly every single day, always with the same troubles, same advice, and same conclusion. Please man, next time do a search.

@nuds
I understand other threads like this exist. I have a strong love for psychedelics and the science behind them. I made this thread, because I like being talked to directly. I don't want to follow advice someone gave to someone else.
Also, I dosed about 1.7g last night and had a beautiful trip thanks to everyone's advce. I'm glad I joined this site.

Set and setting....I always have a conversation with my mushrooms. I asked the mushroom gods for their blessing and guidance. I give myself on to them. try to make your intent filled with love and understanding. give yourself to the mushroom!
