Hey guys got a box of Dutch Dragon truffles a month ago in Amsterdam. They've been in like a vacuum sealed bag in the fridge but i just opened them and they're wet and smell like vinegar. Are truffles normally preserved in vinegar rand that's why they're wet/smell like vinegar? or are they bad and I shouldn't eat them? Thanks

They look fine. They're supposed to come wet, btw. I do remember a distinct smell, vinegary just doesn't come to mind but it has been over a year since I last had them. I see no reason a month in the fridge would be bad. I left mine in there for about the same time until I used them last.

I would say they have that vinegar smell fresh - I feel very sensitive to it, it worried me too but I tested some and they where great
if there are gooey parts with discoloration (rotting) - what I look for in foul truffles (i think you're good)
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night

I've worked with truffles from a Amsterdam a few times. As long as they stayed sealed, they can last up to 3-4 months with little to no loss in potency. I've been told that they can be fine longer than that but it may not be worth the risk since they may develop a mold (being fresh and all). You can freeze them and they'll make it a few more months. Just be sure to thaw them out.
Don't know how experienced you are with truffles. I've taken the full 15g packs of some of the "stronger" strains (they just grow a bit longer underground), and thought the experiences to be roughly 3 grams of cubes give or take, but mostly take. Try the lemon tek, it may give you that boost to the sweet spot you're looking for. Safe travels.

I ordered truffles from Amsterdam and I took a full 15g and they didn't do anything. I normally take about 3g of shrooms and feel great. So the next day I was exhausted and my friend had a terrible headache the next day. Are they bunk? Or do I just need more? I'm about to make two packs I to tea and see what happens. Mine also had that vinegar type smell. Are these no good or do I need to take more?

I guess they are like any other food, they will go bad from spoiling, but if they are sealed they can't turn to vinigar, that's assuming they have enough sugar to even make vinigar, which they don't.
So the vinigar smell I wouldn't worry about, but keep them in the fridge and check for soft spots and mold. Just because they are sealed means nothing. They have no preservation other than refrigeration and can rot inside the bag like any other food.

There is a difference between fermentation and putrification.
Vinigar might be added to help preservation but like they said, it's probably just the way they smell.
