Old[er] subs
    #21727643 - 05/27/15 07:28 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

So my question to all you loverly people is;

The older subs that I find are they

a) still active

and

b) safe for consumption

Now I'm not talking about mouldy green shit here. I'm talking about mushrooms that have become slightly black and withered or are missing half+ of their cap. When compared to juicy golden caps they look quiet forlorn. I have heard a few people type alone the lines of "oh, i found a great patch but the were past their use by date..." What exactly does the phrase mean in the context? Mouldy, slimy goo? Or old[er], but still firm ( but broken), subs...?

Most cheers,
Many thanks

You should treat them like any other food. If you wouldn't eat a store bought mushroom in the same state you probably shouldn't eat them.
