Hey guys, I'm a new member to forum, but i've been on here reading and researching off and on for awhile now. I searched the forum for outdoor vs indoor but didn't have any luck on finding info from people with experience on both, but I'm fixing to start my first grow! I live in the south east united states along the gulfcoast, so my climate is very ideal this time of year for cubensis. Stays between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity is through threw the roof 75%-95%. Originally planned to just get about 6-8 BRF cakes fully colonized then use about four of them as spawn for a local manure bulk substrate and do it all indoors and leave two of them as just cakes just incase something goes wrong with the colonization of the bulk substrate, but i feel confident it will go well since i've studied up so much. I know WBS or rye would be better for inoculating the bulk, but slightly intimidated by the grains being my first time and i think i can get the bulk colonized fast enough with the cake spawn. I've read a few things imply outdoor shrooms tend to grow larger, but to my understanding it all depends on the amount of substrate. Out door would just save me a little money and time on setting up a bulk size terrarium. My question is, are the risk of contam significantly higher outdoors? Will my yield be any different outdoors? Is there a possibility of random continuous flushes in an outdoor garden? I'm thinking i might just keep a small indoor setup as a sure thing, since i already have the supplies for it. Outdoor just seems cool. Ordered some ecuador cub spores yesterday from THE so hopefully will have them soon and get this started. Any advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated Sorry in advance if this is the millionth time this has been inquired about.

Not gonna lie, didn't feel like reading all of this... However, I can tell you that you can't control temperature, contams or animals like an indoor grow.

I would recommend outdoors as its much more forgiving with contaminations. Especially considering your prime location. Make some wbs jars for spawn, don't be scared its super simple if you just follow the tek. Save a jar or two and make a small casing or just fruit right out the jar if u want to keep it kiss. Outdoors also requires much less controls and equipment saving $.

Hi,
Yields would suffer outdoors, you want a consistently high humidity (guestimate is 85-90%)
Possibility of random continual flushes in the outdoor garden: about the same as random unicorns dropping off sacks of gold on your doorstep.
Your doing good

I've been building a bed, in my yard, from spent/contamed bulk substrait, and some extra rye spawn. Just picked some surprises today (guess it's working). But, each was is riddled with holes from little slugs and woodbugs... A fun side experiment, none the less...
