Anyone keen on an ID Request Thanks
    #21723391 - 05/26/15 02:02 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hi all,
so im kinda new to hunting, Ive had a little luck in the pine forrest a few times,
I found a few patches, ive only found fresh subs in the past, a little easier to identify. The latest few batches we have found are a little more mature, not as prominent blueing and not as golden in colour, more brown.

This batch I found a week ago, had luck with the spore print, also is there any poisonous look alike with the same spore print? from what i have found I dont think there i.

This is a more recent batch, a little older and harder to tell from my unexperienced eye, no spore print yet.

Thanks for any help
Cheers

All the mushrooms in those pictures are P. subaeruginosa.

The only real look-a-like would be Galerina sp., these have rust coloured spores and sometimes an annulus, depending on which species. You'll find these generally growing off old logs, but they can appear in wood chip garden beds as well.

Ok great, thanks for the prompt response, with age they are a little less familiar to me, heres a follow up of them more semi dried and spore prints, spore print looks purple brown. I think they all seem to look more identifiable to me as they dry out a little more, I also found a few maggots drop out of them, they should still be safe to eat you think?

Im drying them gills down so hopefully if theres anymore maggots and I do decide to eat them they have hopefully dropped to the bottom of the dryer. HEHE!

Thanks again for the input
