Hello dear mycofriends,
I would appreciate if you could check my oyster plans. I have read the basic bibles and should be able to design the strategies myself, but that was some time ago and under different conditions, so I would be grateful for help.
What I would like to do is to cycle large - ish amounts of organic matter cheaply and simply, connecting waste streams to composting, getting food in the process. I have some logs, lots of woodchips and probably agricultural waste, if I ask around. Certainly there is straw and softwood sawdust. I will be buying spawn.
I do not want to do straw bags. I am not after big and quick yields and I would like to minimize pasteurizing.
The second obvious choice is to buy logs and inoculate into drilled holes. I'll do that, but I would like to buy as little as possible and I do not have much logs.
Now, I want to use all that woody refuse lying around, so what about:
Pasteurize corrugated carton. Sandwich spawn inbetween. Take two such sandwiches and sandwich crumpled newspapers inbetween, so you get: carton, grain, carton, crumpled newspapers, carton, grain, carton, crumpled newspaper, carton, grain, carton, crumpled newspaper... Once the newspapers are heavily, but not fully colonized, take them from the cartons and put into a container and mix, until slurry (blend in blender). Dilute with clean water into larger container. Dip fresh woodchips into this, put into carton box. Fill box, close, cover with gardeners shade cloth / put into a plastic bag, put into shade and check regularly / water as needed. Maybe substitute shredded office paper or sawdust for newspaper. Maybe substitute woodchips for whatever agriwaste (corncobs).
The goal is to avoid pasteurizing the bulk substrate by heavy inoculation by liquid medium and minimize the amount of grain spawn used. If you do not see this strategy would work, there are number of possible variations that could be done: - Saturate cardboard in myc water, use as spawn. - Mix woodchips with denser substrate - Somehow manage to pasteurize the chips / sanitize with lime
I will make some proof - of - concept tests of course and keep you informed in case of at least partial success, but if you can see any obstacles already, or tried and sure ways how to do what I want to do, I would be grateful to know.
Thanks to all

Thanks for good advice.
I won't do clean work is the thing, here where I am now. I will think about it a bit more and update op with what really is the point of this.
I have spawn and will start some experiments. The first priority is to find, if I can make liquid spawn by pulverizing colonized paper). The goal is using this liquid for quick colonization of target substrates with small spawn ratio.
The second goal is to learn, how woodchips can be utilized. The liming strategy is a game changer, so the crux will prolly be, how to join together pasteurizing by soaking with inoculating by liquid.
I already learned the patience game. I have a shitton of projects, but mostly gardening stuff. So bear with me too. I will update, when there is some progress, or some amusing colors in the bags.
