Is this common for young Lophs?

Is this common for young loph seedlings or grafts to develop this much wool in this short amount of time?

It's got a pup growing from one of the wool tufts which excites me because I love super wooly lophs but I've never seen anything like this before at this young an age.

The extra N you were feeding might have something to do with it?
The areoles in a seedling are also very close together, once they are more spread out it might not look so woolly. Grafts can be deceptive. When they are driven by a strong rootstock, their natural growth forms are thrown off. Graft the pup on to some more peres, and keep the fast growth rate going on that scion!

Maybe the apical meristem was damaged and you can't see it, that would explain profuse early pupping.  Some of my weirdest looking plants are those that got attacked by spider mites early and had their growth point lost or damaged as seedlings.

Oh Ok I was just hoping I had a good wooly variety.

I'll keep it growing on stock but for the moment it seems to be growing really well. I know it will slow down so I'm sure I'll have to re-graft here in the upcoming future.

Thanks guys for the info and hopefully it continues to grow super wooly like it's been doing.

Could be a wooly variety in general, or it might be coming down with mealy bugs.  I'd try to look up close with a magnifying glass.  That one areole on the top at least looks like it's throwing a pup.  Pereskiopsis grafts can sometimes pup more than you'd like them to.

Yea it has a pup popping out of that areole which I've been watching for awhile now. I looked it over with magnification and there are no bugs on it or any other graft I've got in my container so it's not an infection.

Still looks awesome IMO. I love really wooly lophs.
