NZ Psilocybe Subaeruginosa ID Request
    #21719730 - 05/25/15 05:02 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

This was found by an inexperienced hunter in a new location. It was near many mushrooms that had a similar cap, but with a darker almost black stipe, which did not seem to resemble P. Subaeruginosa. This mushroom had a distinctly white stipe compared to the others near it.

Images are all of a singular mushroom, at different times since picking.

Habitat:
Decaying leaf litter (primarily cabbage trees), partial shade.

Gills:
Gills were of a similar color to the cap. It is my understanding that P. Subaeruginosa has adnexed or adnate gill attachment, but such an inexperienced hunter would be inclined to call this specimen almost subdecurrent.

Stipe:
The stipe was white, and felt solid compared to other mushrooms. No veil was noted.

Cap:
Approximately 2cm diameter. Colour was brown. The cap seemed to flare upwards somewhat. It is worth noting that the specimen did not seem in good condition when found.

Spore print color:
I always have trouble describing the colour of spore prints. Are there any good resources around showing what colour should be avoided?
In my opinion the color appears dark brown / black with the tiniest hint of purple.

Bruising:
It seems to bruise that colour that I would describe as black, but could almost be called blue. The best blue hint was noted on the gills approximately 24 hours after picking.

It looks a bit chewed up but it's Psilocybe subaeruginosa
