Rye not colonizing

Made a couple of jars some time ago and inoculated them. Some are nice and grown by now and some are the same as when they came out of the pc. Not asking how to save them because I moved on by now just curious as to why can it happen?
The jars were all prepared in the same way. Soaked about 24h then simmered for about 30 min then put into jars and pressure cooked for about 90 min. The amount of water should be the same and the same amount of spores went to each one. I also noticed that some other jars only 2 or 3 out of 4 inoculation ports are showing growth. Now why would that be?

Crappy syringe maybe? I had a GT one that did that. No colonization on half of the injection sites.

do you have 4 inoc holes in your grain jar? why?
also how long's it been? maybe you didn't shake the syringe well before inocing?

Its 24 hours. You knocked em up with spores? They will colonize at a wide range of time. Hopefully you shook after inoc?
Just give it time dude

For about 4 jars its one week and most are colonizing at at least 2 ports (one isn't colonizing at all) but in three other jars its more than a month and no colonization at all. I'm blaming the old print for the second case. Jars still look fine tough I'm thinking about inoculating them with some lc from a different strain and burying them outside. Oh and pressure cooking them again before nocing up. I made more ports just out of habit. Is it bad?
Side question: I made some brf agar substitute just to test out my lc and it came out clean but now it has a lot of knots and even some pins already. Since I had no intention to use it should I introduce fae or just keep the lid on?

Don't worry not going to cry. I have a mini mono going on right now it just seems like a waste of jars that could have been colonized. I want to make sure that won't happen the next time that's why I'm asking.
