Invitro Pinning, Assistance Needed
    #21718800 - 05/24/15 08:41 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

My old LCs had to be tossed and I had no more spore prints lying around, and so I used my last cc of GT spores to inoculate a BRF cake in a half-pint polypropylene container. The cake has been fully colonized for about a week, and I was planning on crumbling it into quart jars tomorrow to create more spawn. I checked on the jar tonight however and noticed three quite small pins, and one which was more developed, being around two to three inches long. I would like to know if there is any way to salvage the cake for the purposes of making grain spawn, or if I am forced at this point to set up my FC and fruit a single cake. I can provide pictures as needed.

possible, yes, but how you're gonna do this cleanly enough beats me  look into LI/slurry if you're adamant.

You could clone those pins on agar.

I wouldnt G2G that cake because you will more than likely need to touch the cake to crumble, where as grains can be broken up in vitro.
This is why G2G with BRF is problematic and difficult IMO.

So you can clone to agar, or fruit and print spores, seem like the options
