Liberty Caps?
    #21718778 - 05/24/15 08:34 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hey all! New here, in need of a bit of ID help.  I'm thinking these MIGHT be LC's, but I'm leaning towards no.  I think the stems are too dark, the larger ones don't have nipples, and they aren't slimy enough.  But I'm curious what someone's more experienced opinion is.

Thanks in advance!

Habitat:
Oregon in a grassy cow field, growing out of dung.  Lots of them, all of them growing directly out of the dung.

Gills:
gray to dark gray, adnexed

Stem:
Up to 10cm long, thin, hollow, gray/light brown bruising dark brown, fibrous

Cap:
1.5-4 cm diameter, brown to gray, the gray ones are dry and smooth to the touch, the brown are moist, conical, some have a nipple (the smaller browner ones)

Spore print color:
Dark spores? Taking a print right now.

Bruising:
dark brown

Veil remnants around the cap margins?

Are these the same species of different ages/development, or two different species? I tried to separate them in the photo. I'm thinking they aren't slimy enough to actually be Liberty Caps.

Thank you SO MUCH for any help!

Not Psilocybe. Might be Panaeolus papilionaceus.

P. semilanceata doesn't really grow straight off dung... It grows from the roots of manured grass..

Here is a pic of Pan. Papilionaceus I took the other day
