how is khat schedule 1 and amphetamine schedule 2? Or how is marijuana schedule 1 and amphetamine/coke schedule 2? I would think it should be reversed?

Well amps are used medically, as well as cocaine.  afaik khat isn't, and neither is marijuana, federally. (although marinol is which happens to be sched 3 oddly enough).

Generally speaking, "established medical use" is a major factor in the scheduling process.  "Established medical use" has historically been interpreted as large, well-controlled clinical trials equivalent to the trials performed to support a drug approval.  These types of trials haven't been performed with MJ.

It's ridiculousbecause Mj now has proven medicinal uses (which is why many states have medical marijuana programs)
It's only a matter of time before it's declared federally.
