Useable logs?
    #21718365 - 05/24/15 05:54 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Would these logs be good for inoculating with plug spawn?
My friend has a couple of these half logs that I believe are pine and wants to get rid of them.
Worth it? An if so what types of mushrooms would grow well on it?

They look old and too large. You want freshly cut logs no 4-6 inches in diameter. Also pine is not very desirable for the most part.

That's what I figured, are there any mushrooms that really prefer pine? Pine and Cypress is  abundant where I live. Oak is a option but it would be a lot easier for me to get ahold of the others.

Fresh cut oak would work if available. Let it age a few weeks before drilling for plugs.
