Yeah, I'm new and have a mushroom picture...
    #21717648 - 05/24/15 02:15 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Habitat:
Middle of Texas, tons of rain lately. growing on dead wood on the underside of a bench... very dark, very wet.

Gills:
white with a bit of tan towards the center

Stem:
it doesn't seem to have one... that's weird right?

Cap:
Diameter: 1-1 1/2 inch, color: tan (bit of white-ish-ness on the edge of the cap), texture: sponge... almost slimy.

Spore print color:
haven't checked yet... i feel like it'll be a waste of time because they seem very identifiable with JUST the info I have

Bruising:
none

austin area. and those pictures are EXACTLY what they look like... they space they're in is super small, that's as close as I can get. I may take a print tomorrow around 5-ish when I get off work. (i feel like they're nothing tbh, i'm mostly just curious)

Spore prints ALWAYS help with getting closer to an ID. It's hard to see them clearly with the pictures, but they almost look like oyster mushrooms. Are they growing on a dead log or something? Kinda looks like it to me from the first picture. You mentioned dead wood, but is it a log or stick, or mulch/woodchips?

Better pics and a spore print would help, but I'm sticking with a Pleurotus sp. for now

they are growing on the underside of a bench... so i guess processed wood? (maybe some kind of plywood) and yeah, i totally think y'all are right, no need for a spore print, I have some others growing on some old tree trunks right next to them that are DEFINITELY pleurotus sp.

Thanks much guys. (the hunt continues)
