I have 5 different tubs, and my largest tub is going the slowest....i think its still another 2 or three days off being 100%, it's been going for 14 days now.....
I am worried it's contamed cause the surface layer has a lighter colour on some parts and is cobweby.
Check the pics and let me know.....
Thanks

It looks healthy to me man the cobweb look is the myc reaching up through.
How did you do the top, did you put on a top layer after you mixed it up when you spawned or is that a casing layer

It looks quite wet in there. Next time make your substrate drier. There's no contaminations yet. Just give it time but colonizing for 14 days and looking like that is kind of worrying.

Where do you see the wet? Are you going by the color of the sub?
Thats why I asked if he used a top layer, sometimes if you lay it on kinda thick it can take a couple weeks to colonize.
I notice when my myc looks like its reaching like that I usually get a good pinset

It's got a casing layer of verm/coir, it's probably pretty thick.

Pooling water = will rot.
Anything less than pooling is supposed to be ideal.....right?

I added 5 quarts of spawn to this tub....i hope the reason it's taking a while to colonize is cause i needed more spawn.....it was WBS.

I thought it wasn't cased. When I saw colonizing mycelium branching out and taking a long time to colonize it was always too wet.
They say to wait for the casing layer to get to 30% colonized before putting to fruiting. I'd say it's way past 30%.

Where do they say that?
I would have put it to fruit but it hasn't finished colonizing the entire cake yet....

It's supposed to be a moisture barrier used to induce pinning. Full colonization would make it a thicker substrate in which case why would you case in the first place?
Should try searching casings or fruiting casings. I'd put it in fruiting right now if it was mine.

I thought casing monotubs wasn't necessarily?
I haven't cased mine and I was told they are doing fine

I actually have a big one which is not cased but when I posted pics I was told it looked good. I am confused and my paranoia is kicking in again.... oh bread balls.

Casing is optional. I only case some of my tubs.
Cubes dont need a casing layer at all but they do like it,

Took the temperature of my tubs. Is 74.5F too low?

I opened it up last night, started FAE and I started the 12/12 lighting today.
I'm excited to see how it goes!
