wheat looks fine.. soaked for 3 days .. simmered.. sterilized... here it decreases in size, clumps together and some jars have a white slime at the bottom.. the first run i assumed it was because i force cooled the sterilization vessel.. but fuck NO.. it let it cool on its own.. still.. i even let the pressure escape and open it straight away as soon as the sterilization finishes.. every fucking time.. what am I doing wrong.. please help me..
that starch slime always contaminates with bacteria or best case the whole jar colonizes without the bottom and I just wash the slime crumble and case with no problems.. but its still fucking annoying.. as someone who wants to expand in size .. this is not acceptable and i can't even fix it and it is driving me nuts

Three days seems like a long time to soak. Are you letting the grains dry on the outside properly before loading? What tek are you using?

I have only done rye berries, that being said before I soak the rye you have to rinse it numerous times to get all the dust and crap off of them or else they will stick together amongst other problems...do you rinse your wheat berries before the soak?

I agree that 3 days is excessive.
Err on the dry side as well, might help with contamination problems.

I don't use a particular tek, just an understanding of everything i've been reading here for a while. I thought we should wait until endospores germinate and get em then.. but here goes.. new starategy.. we'll see how that works..

3 days, you're waiting until the endospores germinate, and then maybe germinate again and again.

That's similar to doing fractured sterilization (Tyndallization). While I've read of people having success with it in mycology I couldn't produce anything but contamination's when I tried it for shits and giggles. The only time you would want to even attempt it is when you have no access to a pc and are working with grains.with that said how exactly did you sterilize your grains? Should of been in a pc for 90 minutes once it reached 15 PSI.

Endospores don't take 3 days to germinate. Even if they did thats not what does it. A proper sterilization cycle will kill them regardless of whether they germinate or not. While it is reccommended thst you soak for at least 4 hours to soften them some, I have used a no soak prep many times with success.
3 days is going to allow for huge numbers of them to breed which will make killing enough to get there numbers low enough difficult. At the same time your grain will start to ferment and turn to mush. Remember we are not killing everything in the jar, just providing a window to colonize in.
