Bruising or Mold
    #21714816 - 05/23/15 04:41 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I know this question gets posted on here a lot but I think it has a lot to do with first time growers wanting to make sure they aren't eating mold and the fact that bruising/mold rarely looks exactly the same from grow to grow.

In my case (this is my first grow), I've dried them out and there is a bluish green discoloration at the ends. After doing my research I am like 90% sure its bruising. However, I wanted to get a more experienced opinion on these. I guess you can never be too sure. There is also a little green on the upper half of the stem in the last picture, but I think that is from drying.  Please let me know what you all think.

It's all bruising. On a side note anything green in our hobby is still edible. Trich is edible as well as penicillium. Which is used in both making penicillin as well as cheese. Just to help you know green is fine lol

Personally I wouldn't eat contaminated fruits but I'm just spoiled. Not that you have to worry about that

There is no mold. Any discoloration you're seeing is either spores or bruising. If you plan to dry them, make sure they're CRACKER dry before you store them. Cracker dry means they snap in half like a cracker, not bend like leather.

Great! And thanks for the extra info. I'll make sure my fungi is dried out before any storing.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I actually plan to do these sometime today. Do you think there is any problem with the white that is at the ends of each stem. I realized that it might be mycelium or possibly white mold and I should probably make sure its ok first.

Probably just mycelium.
