Pan Cyan advice
    #21714304 - 05/23/15 01:56 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

First time growing pan cyans. I have used waylitjim's tek, and essentially made 10 PF style jars with horse manure and verm. They are completely colonised, and almost consolidated. Instead of continuing waylitjims tek and letting them fruit out of the jars, I'm wanting to fruit them into trays with a casing layer of cactus mix and verm. I have a question though.

Do I need to add a substrate to the tray (e.g manure/coir etc) and then mix the crumbled up cakes in with it before adding a casing layer, or can I just crumble up the cakes without a substrate, and then put them in the tray as they are and add the casing layer?

Basically, do I need a substrate or not if the cakes are already made of manure?

Thanks

I see no need to break them up unless you are spawning them to more substrate. It seems pointless to me to crumble than case because you would just be prolonging the fruiting stage. If you're going to case just dunk, roll and fruit.

Thanks for the reply.

Would I not get bigger flushes by breaking up the cakes? The whole point of doing this would be to increase my yield.

If you're looking for a yield increase, you'd be better off getting into grains. Grains have the potential to put out a dry ounce per quart on the first flush.

Ye I've got some grains colonising atm as well but just wanted to experiment with different methods. I'll try what you suggested, cheers.
