Anonymous trolls

Some forums like Physical and Mental Well-Being or Sexuality and Relationships have an anonymous option when posting. I like this option, but when trolls get a hold of it and abuse it it's not fun. Anonymous people cannot be ignored thus anonymous trolls have free reign to do their work.
Being able to ignore an Anon would be a nice feature.

I concur. Maybe there could be a little button down there where the "report" button is that could be an 'ignore this anon' option and it cancels them out of all the anon forums for you, that way they stay anon, you don't have too look at their spew = everybody wins..

Ythan, please code ignoring anons. I imagine there's a group who get warned/banned for trolling on a regular basis. Some SA anons are over the top and sexuality/well-being have some very unshroomy people.
I use the ignore function to get rid of some of the melts/hate magnets but then recognize their posting style and blows my buzz.

Wait, every Anon post must have a member ID number behind it because mods can see who we are. Can we just ignore member numbers across the board?

The problem with ignoring members' anonymous posts is it would allow your identity to leak in certain conditions. If someone suspected that you were the author of a particular anonymous post, they could just ignore you and see if the post disappears. The types of people with the time and patience for this kind of shit are probably the exact types of people you don't want figuring out your real identity.
We could make it work if we kept a separate ignore list for anonymous and non-anonymous posts. Not a bad idea, and something I could probably add. However, ideally people will just report trolls in forums like Physical and Mental Well-Being or Sexuality and Relationships and the mods will deal with it promptly.

I can imagine this almost definitely having a flaw that allows people's identity to be ousted, unless some hella genii crack squad codes it.

Maybe what he means is the feature would just be applied to romper room. Since people can troll in romper as completely as they could in OTD, the possibility of the person you are ignoring could be applied to their anonymous posts in RR as well. Then perhaps maybe just not their other anonymous posts would be invisible outside of RR. I mean, I guess it's not perfect, but it seems like maybe everyone would be a little happier.
The thing I can't for the life of me understand is why anyone would care about an anon users trolling abilities. It always seems to me that most people who crap talk each other in RR know they are doing it and its more of an inside joke then an actual attempt to troll. I've had several PMs with stealth1vampire and soulidarity and have even received PMs at times from romper members laughing and admitting their anon posts attempt to troll me.
Is this actually worst then what happens in OTD where if a specific member doesn't like me then I can't make a single thread in there for 4 years in a row without said member berating every single comment I make and attempting to ratings rape me?
Most people who are trolled anon style in RR know the person trolling them as they have regular contact through OTD. For example Burke Dennings I see ocassionally in Romper. Sometimes he is trolled. Rarely. However, its almost as though he usually knows the exact person doing it. I don't think he could care less. It goes over his head. Its like the same two people he knows from OTD.
I suppose this thread wasn't really in exact regards to RR so much as other non-troll designated forums where people abuse the anon function. All I'm saying is just relax. Its just the internet. Who gives a crap if people talk crap anon or un anon its just life. I got the ratings rape OTD train myself quite a few years back. If I don't want to see what people are saying about me I just avoid the forum. I don't know most of those people so there's nothing I can really do about it anyway besides take it non-personally

I'm not talking about RR or OTD. I'm talking about threads with serious discussions like the forums I mentioned in the OP, it took a mod 3 days to respond to a user I flagged. I said it wasn't an emergency because it wasn't, but it was enough time for my thread to be ruined from my POV. I wish there was something I could do personally do to nip it in the bud on the spot, but letting mods do their jobs will have to suffice.

I don't see how ignoring the anonymous poster in a thread would help, because his or her comments would yet be visible to everyone except the ignorer.

You could say the same thing about the ignore feature outside of anonymous posting, but the ignore feature exists for a reason. It's nice to just click ignore and be done with them in a matter of 10 seconds.

But how would you feel if someone responded to an ignored member in your thread? Wouldn't that excite your curiosity as to what was being responded to?

You're really reaching now. Pretty deep into the "what if" drawer.

Trolls take this place to a whole new level of idiocy. It's far beyond what trolling used to be here. Worse yet, they're not even likeable people and seek acceptance after taking a dump all over the place and don't even pay their way to be here (or do folding@home). I'd love to anon ignore all the people ruining SA and ideally have a meaningful thread pop up. I've hidden more threads in SA in the last 2 years than I have any other forum in my time here.

Well, I am the anonymous poster in your Ibogaine thread if it's any consolation to you.
And I don't do folding@home.

Folding@home (FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing project for disease research that simulates protein folding, computational drug design, and other types of molecular dynamics. The project uses the idle processing resources of thousands of personal computers owned by volunteers who have installed the software on their systems. Its primary purpose is to determine the mechanisms of protein folding, which is the process by which proteins reach their final three-dimensional structure, and to examine the causes of protein misfolding. This is of significant academic interest with major implications for medical research into Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, and many forms of cancer, among other diseases. To a lesser extent, Folding@home also tries to predict a protein's final structure and determine how other molecules may interact with it, which has applications in drug design. Folding@home is developed and operated by the Pande Laboratory at Stanford University, under the direction of Prof. Vijay Pande, and is shared by various scientific institutions and research laboratories across the world.[1]
