.. The jar will go through a PC cycle again anyways next batch. I think some of you are over cleaning those jar lids.
Like pasty said, just be wary of leaving filters wet because they can sometimes mold.
Hell, I don't even wash my lids/filters between batches. I clean the jars out, but the lids/filters sit out while my jars dry. Once jars are dry, I put the lids/filters back on and put back into storage til I need em again.

My plan is to not touch the SFDs/CFDs. Just wipe with a damp paper towel, around and the rim...etc store the jars for the themselves and the lids for themselves. I don't trust leaving the lids on the jars

I leave lids off jars just because there might be some moisture left. But I try not to keep many jars empty.
But yeah you guys are over-thinking this, IMO. They shouldn't be that dirty anyways. Wipe with damp paper towel. Air dry, store/make new grain jars. Just takes a few seconds. Only reason I even bother to wash jars is so I can see if there are any contams. All gets PC'd anyways.

One just has to prevent cfds from getting soaked or staying wet, but that doesn't take much effort. A layer of foil over the jars during pcing and you're good to go.
Since this thread relates to efficiency while cleaning jars, being timely and clean enough to re-use. I would like to mention that a big time saver is NOT using foil over SFD or CFD. I use both and haven't used foil in quite some time now. Use it if you want to but it is unnecessary for these types of filters. I have left jars in the pc for a day, the filter comes out dry. Same as when I take them out of the pc when still warm, the filters are dry or dry very quickly in my SAB.
Also great thread! I was trying to find an answer to how clean jars have to be for re-using in a PC. I personally have been hand washing all my jars and lids with soap and water. It is seriously the most time consuming part of my hobby. It is a relief that I can get away with just the wipe and rinse of spawn jars. Now can the same method be done with jars that were contam with bacteria? If its contam by trich I would always empty/rinse outside then soap and hot water.

A good way to clean lids, and their filters is to soak them for a few hours in a 1:10 bleach:water solution.

I've never tried getting my cfds wet. I don't want to ruin them.

Out-grow going through amazon. Their 10 cents cheaper buying from Outgrows website.

They are perfectly okay wet. I found you just want to stay away from rubbing the filter when wet. Make sure after your cleanse of choice be it a soak even. Make sure to lay them out to dry. In times that I was in need of lids and only had dirty ones, I washed them and were soaked. I wanted dry filters, so I build a rack to sit on top of my oil radiator and turned the heat to maxium. Dry in 30-45 min!
Really it is fine if your CFD or SFD gets wet. As long as you avoid letting them sit wet for a day+ or enclosed/stacked while wet, they will be good to go!
