Not sure what they are. But I am sure they arent psilocybe cyans or psilocybe at all.

Just looking for clarity, realized I shouldn't have been so vague the first time. Thought with better description and better pics I might be more sure. Not that I doubt your expertise, far from it, more that I doubt my ability to communicate what I am seeing. And I added detail about the stem that seemed important, but received no more responses so it seemed wise to start fresh.

The cap is rippled up, sure, but it's not what you think it is. You have to remember you are a beginner and this is a very tricky hobby. The stem snapping or not does not matter in this case. Just keep with it, trust TI's, and your eye will sharpen up no doubt.

Thanks for the clarification on the stem. I was hoping I knew what it was, but have already resigned myself to the fact that it isnt. Now I'm at the point that I just want to be 100% sure what it IS! I've been interested in mushroom id for years, so it's a little frustrating that my first attempt isnt even in my book.

seems nowdays the books can't keep up. the internet is your best resource EVER
you probably even carry it with you
mushroomexpert.com has some pretty good keys to start from and there are others out there. and of course this site will come up on nearly any google search you make on any mushroom -for good reason. use the threads to compare what you've found with what you want to find. welcome to the forum, post your finds! 90+ % of the time someone knows what the fungus is
