Gymnopilus or something else?
    #21710433 - 05/22/15 12:55 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

They have been Identified as possible gymnopilus. I just want to know if they are safe to eat. I don't know a whole lot about this species except that they contain psilocybin and psilocin and are psychoactive.

Dried mushrooms are alot harder to identify than freshly harvested fully (or sometimes even partially) hydrated mushrooms...

Did you pick these yourself? Or buy them? Did someone just give them to you? And my last question at the present time; Is what's pictured all of these that you have?

Yes I picked them myself they were by a river growing out of a fallen hardwood probably oak tree.  Yes that's all I have but I have fresh pictures in another thread. I'll let you know the link to it.

Thanks for the link! I really appreciate that as I'm not Shroomery savvy. Maybe I'll just toss them since we can't get a for sure ID.

In one of your other threads, I advised you to taste a small bite and spit it out and then describe the flavor. Did you ever do that? What did they taste like? Do you have a blacklight? Dried Gymnopilus gills glow under UV. Also, here's a photo of what dried Gymns look like:
