Is he doing something wrong?
    #2171029 - 12/10/03 05:31 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

A foaf has four cakes in his terarrium. He keeps it near 100% humidty and roughly 80 degrees. Its been about 10 days and no pins. The top of two cakes have turned blue but I've been told that is just bruising. Is more time the only thing he needs?

probably just need more time, are your cakes fluffy?
can you see any acumulations of mycelium on the surface of the cakes that look like tiny hard white balls?
i associate bruising with drying, did you dunk/roll/mist etc after you birthed.
answer these and we'll work it out.

Most grain loving mushrooms prefer fruiting temps between 70-75F. Lower your temp and you should see the first signs of pins within a few days. You also might want to lower the humidity a tiney bit. Make sure they are getting enough fresh air exchange on a daily basis.
