First grow!

Hi guys.
I recently managed my first grow despite having to change last minute to a bulk substrate without having done sufficient research due to issues with getting cakes out of jars.
I have just had my first harvest of 60ish shrooms and dried them out.
However it seems like they have lost MUCH more weight than I had anticipated. Roughly 1/3 of my total shrooms are now dry. It totals an 8th (3.5g) IN the baggy (which weighs 0.7 or 0.8g).
And I only have like 8 shrooms still growing in my tray
The only reason I can think of for such a poor yield is the substrate I used. I could not source fine-ground coir to use and had to use a much coarser sub than I had hoped. Colonising the try was a nightmare that took 3 weeks and still didn't cover the entire surface of the tray.
I'm chuffed that I managed to grow consumable shrooms on my first try but slightly disappointed with my yield if I'm honest. By my reckoning, my gf and I will get about 3 trips each out of 2 months of hard work. Still, I'm taking a spore print and am determined to try again! This time, I shall do better! And order an appropriate sub off the internet instead of hurriedly rushing around a garden center last minute and buying a product I was not convinced would work well.
Thanks to everyone who gave me advice! I do not have pictures of the whole grow but here is one of the tray and another of my dried not-quite-an-eighth of shrooms.

Sorry for the long post.
Love and good vibes all around <3

That's awesome... shit happens, you did what you could and still got a harvest!
Live and learn, congrats and enjoy that first, hard-earned trip!

Exactly! Once the last few shrooms are harvested and drying I'm going to get straight on to my second flush. I'll probably order a spore print over the weekend so I'm ready in case of the next flushes being a bust and I'll be sure to order some proper sub this time!
A close friend is also setting up a grow in the next week and has asked for some help since I had some (limited) success so hopefully I can use what I now know to help him with a successful first run.
And thanks, I will! The missus is on her way home from work as I type this so it's not long now until I get to try the fruits of my labour

Nice. It isn't all that unusual for the second and consequent flushed to yield a whole lot more than first one, so you may get a pleasant surprise in the near future. Congrats

Oooooo nice! I'm looking forward to it slightly more now then!
When flushing trays, am I right in believing you scrape off the little nodules of shroom left on the surface (gently), dunk for 2-4 hours, drain off excess water and then get straight back to it?
