now is the time to buy 3 year greek bonds. Germany isn't the whole EU, and politically speaking, they can't drop greece no matter what the finances look like. Mark my words, another bailout is coming. If i had money, i would be buying so many greek bonds right now

It would have gone bankrupt years ago. The Greek economy has been almost entirely dependent on European funds for 20 years. The only thing that can help Greece at this point, it seems to me, is postponing the payment of debts and interest for at least 5 or 10 years, allowing the country to create something like an economy without having to deal with a huge and permanent outflux of capital that they don't have, but need to invest in economic reform. The alternative, i.e. having Greece pay back loans and interests as is currently the plan, is simply unbearable for the country. Either way, there's very little chance that Europe is going to see much of its money coming back from Greece and it's out of the question that they'll ever pay back the full amount.

Even Hitler couldn't fix the mess Greece has created for themselves. Greece is fucked, the EU should kick them out.

Ever see Anthony Bourdain? Lots of Ouzo, wine, and Goat meat. Their bodies SLATHERED in the greasy sheen of the goat meat.

They should default on the debt and start over with their own currency, the new currency will be dirt cheap and since tourism is one of the key aspects to the Greece economy they would be booming in no time.
Before you know it (5-10 years), the new currency would increase in value and life would go on, this idea of trying to payback the unpayable is beyond silly, debt slavery for the next 50-100 years, fuck that!!

It's kinda funny but technically America's been at the whims of the Federal Reserve since Woodrow Wilson was around the Oval Office.

If Greece is smart they do just that and mint silver and gold drachmes and default on all their debts.

It might well be best for the government to default but that is going to hurt a lot of people and I don't just mean central bank creditors. How are they going to pay the pensions? Who will trust their fiat currency? Who will ever invest there again? What about the money deposited by Greeks in Greek banks? Poof, gone.
Buy Greek bonds because they are defaulting? Are you guys nuts? I wouldn't touch that socialist shithole with your dicks. And cheapness may get them more tourism but tourism only goes so far. Everybody will demand cash on the barrel for any imports. They'll turn into Argentina, another socialist shithole that can't pay it's debts. I don't really give a shit about them but you guys seem to and are not thinking this through. Europe will be better off without them. They will not be better off without Europe.

whatever the economics look like, the politics aren't right for the EU to cut greece loose. What would spain, portugal, italy, bulgaria, etc. have to think if that happened? no, despite brinksmanship, greece will get more bailout money. If you can operate under that assumption, why wouldn't you want to buy greek bonds at crazy high interest rates that the germans are gonna pay off? Argentina is an interesting example, but not wholly applicable, for the reasons i stated at the beginning of this post.

It won't be the EU that kicks Greece out. It will be Greece leaving. They have already proven themselves to be bums. I wouldn't invest a farthing in that socialist shithole. And they haven't learned a thing. They are the idiot child of Europe.

Yeah, I am seriously unlearned on this topic, but it strikes me that the greeks have the arrogance that only ignorance can sustain and consequently will push this freakshow as far as it can go. I imagine the temptation is strong to externalize their troubles and claim if only they had more socialism they'd be fine.
Hopefully for the greeks they realize what's happening before they fuck themselves up even more.
Anyone know what the political climate is likely to be when reality finally imposes itself? Are we going to see fascists running things?

You are going to see riots. The last election was a temper tantrum that they thought would get some more allowance and when they find out it won't work they will go apeshit.
