That's wishful thinking. 90% of the time they never see the money again.
Do tell? I wasn't aware of that statistic. I hope the asshole cops enjoy their shiny new death toys the bought with the proceeds..........IN HELL!

Well I pulled the statistic out of my ass.. but from all the incidents I have read about, that's about my best guess. Very rarely do they get their money back. And if they do, it's usually after an extensive legal battle and they have to use half or most of the money paying legal fees, even if they are proven completely innocent. Here's a few examples http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/11/civil-asset-forfeiture-cash-money_n_6623972.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/sf/investigative/2014/09/08/they-fought-the-law-who-won/ http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=91555835

In 1992 I was a suspect in an arson case because I happened to walk past a house as it was being set on fire. I gave the arson investigator a pair of my pants to send to the lab and test for gasoline. Never got them back.
Had 40 grams of weed, a scale and a pipe in my college dorm room taken as well after police searched it while I was being questioned. (Did not need a warrant since the University dorm room administrator was with them and gave them permission.)
After that day I learned how important it was to know my rights even when I am completely innocent..

Unfortunately, the more forfeiture laws legislatures enacted, the less attention police seem to pay to major criminals. Representative Henry Hyde of Illinois noted in June 1993 that 80 percent of the people whose property is seized by the federal government under drug laws are never formally charged with any crime.
Not the statistic you we're looking for, because it's not the percentage of people who do or do not get their shit back, but 80 percent of shit they take, is from innocent people.

I suspect very few go into the profession to arrest people for drugs. And if they do, it is probably because they are misinformed or stupid, which they can't necessarily help. Sometimes they can be downright belligerent, but many people in the general population are too. Even many drug users. The stereotyping goes both ways.
No, all you have to "want" is power and control over your fellow citizens. Those kids that were bullies in elementary? Many of them become cops so that they can continue they're bullying well into adulthood.

The fact that we elect people to jobs in the justice system is a huge part of the problem, not the solution.

I once was mugged by a knife on the street and they took my cigarettes and bag of chips I bought. The person who did it was in the store behind me and followed me. The cops went to the store and I pointed him out in the surveillance footage. There like yeah we'll contact you back soon. But never heard back from the cops. Its like the whole case just went out the window... fucking cops man they ain't doing their job. I got robbed and show them the perp on video footage. I justed wasted my time bothering to even call in the crime. lol

Did anybody elses cop cars change in their area recently?
The cops around here all recently traded in there Crown Vics for Chargers, SUV's, and Trucks.
All the new paint jobs say nothing about Serving and protecting, the old ones did.

Yeah, sort of I guess. Not too recently.
We got new cars within the past couple years. Almost no Crown Vics left on the road down here, It's all chargers...
But you know what that means?
Retired Police Chargers at auction

If I can buy a ex police cruiser crown vic at 500 bucks, at an auction.
I can't wait until a few years I can pick up a dodge charger police interceptor for dirt cheap too.

I'll stick with my Subaru with 200,000 miles on it. Just returned from an offroad desert trip and another day jaunt offroading shooting trip and it kicked ass. Also nice to get 23 miles to the gallon and be able to sleep in the back

I had a Turbo'd Legacy Outback back in the day.
2.2 L Turbo I believe. Shit hauled ass, and I loved taking it offroading, I would pass trucks stuck in mud going like 40-50 lmao.
Can't get stuck if you never slow down.

This is basically it, the year 2000, only mine had a hood scoop because It had a turbo.
Got T-boned and totaled it

It's a bit bigger than the Outback Sport. It's longer, more of a station wagon than the hatch back or SUV or whatever the fuck an outback sport is Other than ugly haha, no offence that car looks gross. Other than that, yeah, basically the same car.
Shit got great fucking mileage too, not 23 though. Probably like 18 city 20 highway.
Thats AWD though, I never used the FWD fuse. Didn't even try it.

Yeah our cop cars have changed. We still have the old Crown Vics but there's quite a few new ones. Tahoes mostly. There's some golden colored Chevy car I'm not sure what kind exactly (Googling images if I had to guess, I'd say a Cruze). All the new ones have hidden lights and the paint jobs on them make it almost impossible to see they're police (except at night, then the paint is clearly reflected by the headlights). During the day it looks like it used to be a cop car and the decals had been removed leaving that faded imprint of "Police".
I also saw on Facebook the other day that we have a new police truck as well, it's painted like the Crown Vics, but it's been bagged.. Lol..

This is what they look like.
