First time rye grain grow log, newrook 1

Alright guys, I'm not going to be super technical with the write out but I need help for sure.
Here is what I am working with - taken today, May 21, 10pm

Jars on right were knocked up with B+ syringe and are taking a while, 12 days in. All have been shaken once, one jar succumbed to bacterial contamination so I'm left with 9 of the ms.
Jars on the left are my first agar work, and are only a day in besides one that I had in my SAB and threw some clean leftovers in while I was transfering.
I'm pretty sure I'm just going to buy 4 or 5 tubs and make mini monos. I have a few large 66's but I mangled them with holes making a contraption with mini sonic humidifiers and an air pump because I found erowid before this website when I began my research.
It did end up working fine but is a pain in the butt to keep dialed in. I doubt its worth the trouble trying to convert them to regular mono tubs.
Does anyone know a rough ratio of tub size : spawn : sub
Pasty plates are awesome, even if the creator of them is kind of mean

Decided to go with a mix of 40 quart and 64 quarts.
How much spawn should I expect to use on each? 1 quart spawn to 1.5 coir verm for every 10 quarts in the tub?

Decide how deep you want your substrate, and then how many quarts it takes to get to that depth. Then follow your ratio of choice
Some use 1:2, some use 1:1.5, others use 1:1. Whatever tickles your fancy. I usually go with 1:1.5

spawned this 40 gal tub with 4 quarts of spawn and an equal amount of coir/verm about 4 days ago. does it look ready to fruit? I don't think I'm going to bother adding a casing layer.

I still see a lot of patches where the mycelium hasn't reached. I would let it consolidate for at least two days to ensure a good first flush.

Progress as of today... I did a poor job mixing the grains and coir, there are a few patches of coir/verm that I dont see any grains in. Going to fruit it tomorrow I think unless anyone tells me not to.
I have another 4 grain jars ready to go so I'll spawn the second 40 gal tomorrow as well.
Iread somewhere that the sub on my 40 gals might dry out if I use all 6 holes, maybe I'll try only opening one on each long side

Put tub in fruiting conditions today but some water beaded down the side and pooled on the surface, is it ok to leave it or should I paper towel it

Take the lid off and let it evaporate if water is pooling on the surface. A fully colonized sub is very resistant to contams, don't worry about that. Excess water will lead to bacteria formation = bad lol. Only mist if the sub looks dry (ie: not glistening) and only fan when you mist to disperse the water from misting. You're trying to get good surface evaporation, an important pinning trigger.

Tub #1 got taken over by gnats... nice.
40q #2 has signs of life coming along... it also seemed to not be evaporating the water pooling on top of the sub, leaving stale water... so I soaked it up the best I could and loosened the bottom polyfil a bit.
I seem to have some weird stuff growing, but I'll be happy if the pins that are there make it to maturity, the first tub completely stalled out, hopefully just from the gnats.

Where are you tubs located? Your FAE could be an issue. I see decent size water droplets sitting on top of the substrate.

You should be seeing small beads of moisture on top of your sub.
Did you check out franks tek how to dial in your monotub like a boss?

I'll check out the tek now, thanks.
I did have an even set of tiny good looking drops across the surface... all the big stuff came from condensation on the walls and lids pooling into large drops and dropping onto the sub. I cleaned it up half decent (small squares of paper towel to soak up the big stuff).
The tubs are located in a corner of a room, with a fan not too far off pointing away from the tubs.

I wouldn't have them right against the wall. At least no closer than a foot or two.
Your sub should be shrinking, and the liner shrink with it so you shouldn't be getting moisture dripping down on the sub, but sometimes it does happen.
