how many games does basketball have in a season?....football is all about luck as much as any sport....I bet if they had more than single elimination in the playoffs it would change things quite a bit.....

Basketball has 82 games in the regular season. They have single elimination in football playoff games because they can only play once a week.
Hockey has the most luck mainly because because the scores are lower.

So this Heston kid has been pretty impressive on the mound for the Giants so far, which is good because some of our other starters haven't been so good, particularly Vogelsong. He gave up 3 home runs in the 1st inning a couple days ago, and I don't think he's won a game yet. Hopefully he gets it together soon, if not he's gotta go.

So I didn't realize the Giants no longer have a minor league team in Fresno, this year they own a team in Sacramento. Either way, you get the point. Speaking of which, Matt Duffy is on fire offensively and he's making sure he doesn't get sent down any time soon.
If only that Dodgers offense would go away for a little while, those guys are kicking some serious ass.

Another Giants-Dodgers series starts tonight!
We might see a lot of runs tonight. Hudson on the mound for the Giants and he doesn't have the greatest history against the Dodgers. I don't know much about this Frias kid for the Dodgers but the Giants hitters are on fire right now so he better be ready. Belt and Crawford are tearing shit up, and Pence is back with a vengeance.
Tomorrow should be good with Lincecum-Anderson, and Thursday will be great with Bum-Kershaw.

Another sweep! And not just a sweep but a straight 3 game shut-out!
Also, Bumgarner is the first pitcher to hit a home run off Kershaw.

MLB suspended Brewers' reliever Will Smith 8 games for having rosin and sunscreen on his arm in a game at Atlanta. Both rosin and spray on sunscreen are used nearly universally by baseball pitchers to improve their grip. Used in combination they create the ultimate stickum.
In terms of the rules they are not strictly speaking legal or illegal. Sunscreen can not be banned, but is supposed to be used more sparingly and not to create a glossy layer on the arm, but once they start sweating, who can tell. Rosin has always been used, but only league supplied rosin is legal, and the rosin bag is placed behind the mound by the umpire. The pitcher can pick it up anytime to improve his grip. If it starts to rain, the umpire will usually let the pitcher keep the rosin bag in his pocket. It is not considered legal to use rosin from any other source and apply it to the glove, arm or uniform. The unwritten rule has always been use the stuff, but don't be obvious about it, and you won't get caught.
So this is all a grey area, and various baseball insiders say the rosin/sunscreen combo is used by at least 90% of pitchers. In terms of the effect this is the opposite of the spitball, greaseball or scuffed baseball. Those all let the ball slide off the pitchers fingers and create unpredictable movement on the pitch. The rosin/sunscreen ball allows a near perfect grip which improves control. Even hitters, such as Atlanta's Freddie Freeman say they prefer the pitchers to use this stuff, because it decreases the chances that the pitcher will accidently hit them in the head.

The scoreboard added another ball to the 2-2 count from Nationals lefty Matt Grace in the seventh inning of Sunday's 8-2 Reds victory. Despite Grace having thrown just two balls in the at-bat, the scoreboard showed a full count. On Grace's seventh pitch of the at-bat (Votto fouled off a two-strike pitch), Emmel called a ball and Votto sprinted to first.
Nobody — not Emmel, not another umpire, not Nationals manager Matt Williams, nor either TV announcing crew — caught the gaffe. Votto would go to third on Todd Frazier's RBI double and score on Jay Bruce's double in the six-run inning. Some on Twitter caught the three-ball walk, but it wasn't confirmed until later when the video was reviewed. The MLB Gameday pitch-by-pitch account shows an eighth pitch listed, but there is no pitch type or pitch speed, it's only there as a placeholder to allow the software to register the walk that Votto took.
Like, dude, nobody is watching the game
Baseball lol

That switch pitcher is dope.
Its pretty gay they make him declare which arm he’s throwing with though. He should be able to switch arms mid batter. Catering the batter is stupid especially in a boring ass sport that needs some excitement.

Agreed that's gay. He has an advantage because he earned it through practice. That reminds me the NCAA no dunking rule because of Kareem.
Did you see that fan at Fenway that got all bloodied up by a broken bat? There was one especially gory shot I can't find this morning.

What the fuck, basketball without dunking isn’t a sport. I mean even chicks are throwing down dunks now.
Ya i did see that. Shit would suck take a day off to go to the ballpark with plans of day drinking and chilling, wake up in the ICU.
