Why are my Phoenix oysters curling upwards?
    #21705135 - 05/21/15 03:06 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can tell me why my mushies are curling upwards and generally contorting like crazy. They start out looking fine and they are not all doing it.Even some of my whites are doing it in a small way.I am growing indoors with humidity around 90% and temp between 14-18 celcius. My c02 reading is around 500ppm.We have had a bit of rain lately so the humidity has been very high and some of the mushies are quite moist on top (when they are still flat)
At this point all I can think is that they are getting a draft (draught)on them.Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think they're just aging out.  When my oysters get passed their prime they fold in on themselves like that.    I've also had my fogger set too high and seen the same effect.

Its normal - they're dropping spores.

You should try to harvest your oyster before the caps start to do that. You'll get better shelf life, taste and they'll look nicer. Those are still edible, so pick em now and get the next ones earlier.
