How long should i dry my mushrooms to get them cracker dry but not long enough to affect potency? I'm gonna leave it running overnight at 95 degrees fahrenheit and check on it in the morning.

Heat from your dehydrator doesn't affect potency.

I've read that you do t want to dry mushies with heat? Just with air. Was I misinformed? Because I have a dehydrator but it has a heating element, so I didn't use it. It took 60 hrs to dry a 40 gram ( dry weight) flush of small to medium sized GT's.
I thought it took way to long. But it was my first harvest. Should I be using the dehydrator?

Yes. Use a dehydrator. dehydrator heat is no problem, it's relatively quick. and relatively low heat (believe it or not)

Cron PC'd some fruits a while back. Heat does not affect potency. Not getting them cracker dry does.

My presto operates at 165. Not nearly hot enough to break down the goods.

oh shit...just realized I have a presto, I was thinking it operated in the 90s...but 165 sounds more accurate, either way it works!

I believe most dehydrators that have no temperature or fan settings will operate at about the same temperature. Maybe with a 10-20 degree difference. As far as time I have seen as little as 4 hours, but I usually let it run while I sleep.

Last time i dried my mushrooms i let it run for 24+ hours and the potency didn't seem to be affected. It usually takes a full day to dry, depending on the size of the fruits. I wanna store mine for a while so I wanna make sure it's cracker dry.

If you want to use a desiccant fan dry first until they're pretty much cracker dry. It's like a 3-5 day process. A dehydrator takes 8-24 hours. An oven with a fan can take 24-48 hours. Personally I find heat drying to be best. The actives actually are more affected by oxidation so getting cracker dry ASAP is best.

I usually dry mine at like 130-140f for about 12 hours or so. Some people leave them on the dehydrator for 24-36 hours.

I use my dehydrator at 35'C for 8-10 hours or until they all feel like they could crumble between my fingers from being so crisp. They feel like chips when they're ready and i'll give them an extra hour or so just to be sure
