Identify These Mushrooms Please
    #21703141 - 05/20/15 05:09 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

I just got a phone call from a friend saying he found gold caps. He said he found them on cow shit lol. He is in Northern Arizona right now, Prescott specifically. I told him to not eat them until he even knows what they are. Here are the pictures he sent me. I honestly think they look poisonous but I am no expert. He's eager to eat them so please respond quickly so I can scare him enough from consuming a random mushroom.

It's an inactive but nontoxic Panaeolus species. Psilocybe cubensis (gold caps) don't grow in AZ.

It's not poisonous. It is a Panaeolus species, either P. antillarum or perhaps something close to P. semiovatus.
