Habitat:
North of Nashville, in shady grass area.

Gills:
White

Stem:
3-4 inch long, 1/2 inch diameter, white

Cap:
2,3 inch, smooth, beige



I know its not active, but is it edible?

These feel a little fuzzy, and as you can see no gills it looks more like a sponge. Edible?

Thanks man! I looked them up and im pretty sure both are correct, also looks like they are edible! Do you have any tips on stoarge and cleaning before eating them, they dont look very appetizing anymore lol.

Mica caps deliquesce quickly. Eat them young and cook em right after picking, or they turn to sludge.

also  your Polyporus squamosus is past prime, they're pretty durable fruits so you'll find them after they've been there awhile
scuttlebutt has it they're best when young and fresh like... oh errr... um.. nm.
they'll just look much more appealing then too.

Alan said he was going to try some the other day, i'm still curious as to how he felt about it.  Alan?
