Hi all i really wanna start an ethnobotanical garden and im having trouble deciding what i want to start with calea or salvia and i wanna start with cuttings (not that salvia even comes in seed form) so my questions are broken down as follows:
1. Calea Zacatechichi or Salvia Divinorum?
2. How are cuttings shipped is there a possibility it will die in the mail? Will it have roots
3. Once i do get it how do i get it in a pot?
4. Any recomended sources to order from?
Thank yous

1. Calea. (Salvia is very finicky, if you're a beginner...go with Calea.)
2. Different vendors use different methods. Mail death is always a possibility, . I've gotten em wrapped in news paper, i've gotten em loose and flopping around in a box, and i've gotten em in soil. Some salvia vendors use a little test tube with some agar in the bottom.
Whether or not they have roots, is dependent on where you get them from. But in my experience, usually you can choose between rooted and unrooted.
3.
4. Source discussion isn't allowed here man, sorry.

I have notice they need a lot of water and the strong heat is no good for calea. Mine died years ago.

It should do well then.
They can take some sun if the temperatures are mild. But when it get's 95+ down here, I have to pull it in shade or the leaves start showing signs of burning.
Like ferrel said, they like a lot of water..BUT..keep in mind he and I are in Tx..where nearly everything requires more watering than usual.

I was actually hoping to grow it indoors is it a fast grower or does it take its time?
